Kim, we should change him from 'the grinch...' Hahaha, & here I thought it was going to be my own continuing moniker Edit: Looks like Comrade 2Dog FluffyPants is still 'christmasy' too, in case you're wanting to normalize things again.

Well, tonight didn't go well...
It starts with our usual pouch time after my dinner. Since they haven't been climbing out until around 2200, I should've had a while to go. A little before 2100, though, the bickering & crabbing started. No fighting (my hand was in there, I'm pretty sure I would know), but a lot of complaining. Shortly after, Merlin began a 15min stretch where he kept sticking his head out, or partially coming out, before diving back after a few scratches from me.
About 2100 he started spazzing out & jumping all over me. I kept trying to corral him to ensure he didn't run off & hopefully settle down. Instead, he stresses out and has a seizure. At least he's someplace I can actually scoop him up, right as it begins, instead of him locking himself someplace I can't really do anything. So I gather him in my hand in such a way to prevent him from flailing around, ensure I have his paws near parts of my fingers he'll be able to hold on to easily, then hold him against my chest for comfort.
What would be best right now is for the others to stay in the pouch. That is also exactly what does NOT happen. I decide I need to return the other so I can focus on Merlin... this also does not conform to their plans. I have ALL THREE (yes, Arthur suddenly became un-lazy) jumping, scurry, running, and relieving themselves everywhere... doubly so on me AND MERLIN! Seriously!?
After some time alternating between comforting Merlin, tracking wayward gliders, & attempting to usher them into the cage to stay, my poor boy begins to settle down from his post-seizure panic (it's a breathing/clutching difference). I am able to hold several yoggies, one at a time, right under his nose for him to take. That helps liven him up back to something resembling alertness.
I figure this would be a good time to get him back in the cage where he'll feel more secure. As I go to do so, two things happen: Arthur makes an escape leap (again) & Merlin gives my thumb a serious bite. I can't remember the last time they managed to draw blood! Now, I have the conundrum of returning him to the cage after a bite or keeping him with me as I go after Arthur (who's paused long enough to start making a puddle in the middle of my kitchen). I decide with everything, he gets to go back & have his little victory tonight.
I proceed to continue to collect the other furballs playing musical glider & going all different directions. One by one they get treats from me as they choose to cooperate, which only makes them want to come out for more instead of our normal understanding that it means we're done. *sigh*
After all of that, as I'm trying to put Gwynevere back... SHE TAKES A PIECE OUT OF A FINGER!!! I've gone from not being able to recall the last time they drew blood to twice in one night, two different fingers, by two different gliders!! What the [censored series of words] is going on!?
I get them dinner only to have the girls ambush me as I try to put it in the cage. OMG, this is beyond a circus show. The three stooges would be proud. It is another 20min before I manage to close the door of the cage with all four inside.
By this time, they've managed to use me as a toilet to such an extent that I only want a hot shower. Another thing we've managed to avoid for a very long time. Of course, that came after I cleaned up the trails they made on my shelves & floor. I really MUST wash that shirt & those jeans tomorrow.
It started as a nice, cuddly night. It did not end well.

Hutch,
This is such a sweet story!
I feel your pain!
After the day I had on top of our eventful trip, I needed to laugh and smile... Maybe it just hit my funnybone... Maybe I'm just delirious...
I wish Merlin didn't have seizures though... I'm surprized he had it in him to bite.

I wish that too... & I agree, I was surpised, hes usually just wants to be put on a hammock. Don't worry, I figured some people would get a good laugh out of it & maybe a few cringes. 1. Never, ever get a Mogwai wet. 2. Never, ever let your suggies out during a full moon. Now you tell me! They should come with warning labels.

"Play with them in the morning", they say. "They'll be soo much calmer & ready to sleep", they claim. It's 0830hrs local. The gloomy sun it up & I just finished a short 30min play session with my furballs. They were still quite active. As in 'children it's a snow day - to go play' active. Now they're bouncing around the cage & two of them are racing each other in the wheels. (BTW, putting their travel wheel in the cage with them, two paws up.) Play was fun though, even the boys were interactive. Merlin took some convincing, but even he came to me & stayed on my shoulders for a while just watching the others. Lots of jumping, clambering, and climbing around. Lots of retrieving gliders as they made a break for it. Gwyn was in rare form. She found a plastic bag which I was storing some of their smaller toys in... & decided it must be killed. I took her away from it several times, took it away from her several time (the last of which she clung to it & had to be pried off), & relocated it across the room. The rest of the playtime, she kept trying to get away from me & go after it. I think she was still glaring at the bag once her butt was back in the cage. Ooo... while I've been typing this, two have made it into the pouch! The best news is: 10min of Merlin hopping to & from me, all on his own. Some almost appeared that they almost could be maybe considered a jump. He usually saves anything over about half-a-foot for running away. There goes Gwyn into the pouch. One grey-body left. Almost certain that would be Morgana, but without looking to see how dark the stripes are, can't be 100%. Oh, OH! There she(?) goes! 0850hrs. They were up & playing hard a little after 2100hrs last night. Impressive. I wonder if they're up this late more often since I'm normally at work or (on weekends) just getting up about now. Hmmm...

Wow! sounds like you all had a lot of fun! Maybe they were excited you were up this morning. But they may have some playtime daily once you leave for work too. I've wanted a good camera for their cage. So I can see what they're up to. I think it would be fun to watch. So you're doing gliding lessons? Gwen wants to hunt. She needs a bag of giant plastic bugs. My two love to "hunt" their bug puppets I found. They fit over the tip of your finger. I've also tied clear elastic string on them and pulled it through their cage, or on the floor. Once they go to bed, I poke them in the bars(no string attached of course) and found them dead on the floor of their cage the next morning. Hum... I need to order more... My grandkids like them too... I think they took all mine to play with their stuffed sugar gliders.... You are a great fuzzbutt dad!

Ahh morning playtime! I really liked having playtime with my gliders in the morning. We're still working on getting adjusted to evening ones though, since I don't see fitting am playtime in. But lately it's been rough getting in any and will probably continue to be so for at least a few more weeks. sounds like it went well for you though, everyone having fun!

My turds are still turds... but lovable turds. Several nigh wake-ups due to their (Gwyn's) barking. They're hissing again, so it looks like I'll need a vet visit. Being nippy if I don't offer sufficient treats. All it in, life with them (at least as far as them) is good.

It's official: By the end of summer, our next living space will be located in or near Abilene, Texas. It could be worse. This will be quite a change of scene for my furballs. I kept the set-up they were shipped to me in, so not worried about that. I'm sure they'll appreciate US style climate-control as much as I will.

Yay!!!! So, I've been dying to ask this since way back... Will they have to go through quarantine? Do you have someone to ship them to? Do you have a backup plan in case that someone can't be there? Will you have a temporary cage till your furniture gets stateside? I had more questions, but I forgot!!!

Of course it was dark and rainy at the time I actually couldn't see much. The first motel I stopped at was creepy, well I didn't feel comfortable while traveling alone with my fur babies. I don't even remember the name of the motel/hotel it was or the one I ended up staying at, which was okay. I was telling my co-teacher about how creepy Abilene felt, she looked it up and saw that "The Chainsaw Massacre" was filmed there, lol.

Yay!!!! Well, at least someone is happy, lol. I just keep telling myself that there are places I'd be less happy about (Mississippi, I'm glaring at you). I'm also attempting to have a sense of humor about it: the first two years of my career were in Texas, now my last two will be in Texas. Symmetry! So, I've been dying to ask this since way back... So why didn't you silly Will they have to go through quarantine? As of when I had I them shipped to me, no. I'll be making sure nothing has changed as I arrange their paperwork.Do you have someone to ship them to? Nope. I'm hoping that I'll be able to make arrangements to have them on my flight.Do you have a backup plan in case that someone can't be there? Nope. My backup plan will be having friends here send them to me once I get there. Will you have a temporary cage till your furniture gets stateside? If things go how I want, I'll collapse their travel cage, food, etc. into their own suitcase to go with me. If I need to leave them here (see back-up plan), then I'll order something for there. I had more questions, but I forgot!!! Well, if you would have asked me when you first thought of them hehe That is what I have been wondering also. Hope it goes smooth when the time comes. Me too! It was pretty smooth getting them here with Pricilla Price's help from The Pet Glider. I may reach out to her again for advise if I'm having trouble verifying everything.
If you take a military plane home can they ride on your lap. I know the commercial flights don't even allow them in the cabin. That won't be an option for me, they're going to want to ly me commercial from here. I'm not sure that they still let you do pets, these days. They're cracked down a lot on the military flights.
I stayed over in Abilene TX on my return move from AZ. Of course it was dark and rainy at the time I actually couldn't see much. The first motel I stopped at was creepy, well I didn't feel comfortable while traveling alone with my fur babies. I don't even remember the name of the motel/hotel it was or the one I ended up staying at, which was okay. Eh, yeah, I haven't really heard too much to look forward to there. I guess one middle-of-nowhere is like any other. I was telling my co-teacher about how creepy Abilene felt, she looked it up and saw that "The Chainsaw Massacre" was filmed there, lol. Totally not surprised We are all assuming you will be glad to be back State side. I would rather have stayed overseas.
Guess it would be easier to see that 'gal' we heard about A bit easier & cheaper, yes. Won't be a nine-hour flight anymore, at least. Still, when I found out I was most liking returning to US soil, I requested the east coast. Silly me, thinking I'd be sent anywhere besides the south.

Hutch, you crack me up!!! Well, I'm not gonna try to use the quote on my tablet, so here goes... Way back when, I didn't know you very well, and I didn't want to drill you about your business and your future. I learned to have faith in you over time, and you would do good by "The Round Table". Over time, it wasn't as important to know. Now you have 4-6 months to ponder and get everything ready. The quarantine question: Way back MANY years ago, dogs and cats had to be quarantined, along with a certificate of health. I was curious about gliders. Since they don't carry diseases like domestics, I didn't know. So your flight, will you land on the east coast, and go through customs there? And take off again for Abilene? No direct flight? Will you be changing planes, if so, does the plane(s) have a pressurized cargo area? Do you get to pick the airline you fly on? Abilene... Well, it's smack dab in the middle of the state... 2 years, huh?... Well, I have nothing to say about that... I hope there are things to do on base... Maybe work on your tan... As far as I know, there are no gators... Maybe a few longhorns... Maybe take up flying? Sharpshooting rocks at 1500+ yards? Germany is a beautiful place, take it all in... You will need a mental happy place when you get to TX. Have fun short timer! Ein bier bitte! Wo ist der flughafen?
Dawn Be patient, and Trust your journey.... Grace Ruby Mom Dad Fiona, Dot and Stewie wish I could turn back time... Miss you

Hutch, you crack me up!!! Well, I'm not gonna try to use the quote on my tablet, so here goes... But... but... but... challenges equal growth! Actually, I'm with you, I avoid responding on my phone or tablet. Way back when, I didn't know you very well, and I didn't want to drill you about your business and your future. I learned to have faith in you over time, and you would do good by "The Round Table". Over time, it wasn't as important to know. Okay that's fair... & the flattery doesn't hurt Now you have 4-6 months to ponder and get everything ready. I really need to have everything squared away in four months as I'll be leaving early to mid-July. You know, the perfect time to visit the heart of Texas The quarantine question: Way back MANY years ago, dogs and cats had to be quarantined, along with a certificate of health. I was curious about gliders. Since they don't carry diseases like domestics, I didn't know. A lot of that has become more relaxed depending on where you're coming from. I'll need a certificate of health and an import certificate... what else is still to be confirmed, but I have all the original export documents. So your flight, will you land on the east coast, and go through customs there? I suspect so, but maybe direct to San Antonio Int'l? Sadly, I won't have much say in it. Knowing my usual luck, I'll be sent through Chicago, just to make the flight that much longer. Because they can. And take off again for Abilene? I hope so, it would be a loooong walk. Is hitch-hiking still a thing? I doubt it, small airport. Will you be changing planes, if so, does the plane(s) have a pressurized cargo area? It better, I don't think they can hold their breath that long... though in Arthur's case I'm not sure I'd be able to tell the difference if he didn't get enough oxygen. Do you get to pick the airline you fly on? Nope That was actually a problem coming here that cause a lot of complications. In the end, it resulted in me giving away my pet snake at the time to someone who'd care for her. Not happening this time!!! ( BTW: Shipping snakes internationally... $$$$. Having my four Sugar Gliders flown here was cheaper than having one small-ish snake flown here, by several hundred dollars!) Abilene... Yeah, 2 years after I get there is when I hit 20 years of service & High-Year-Tenue. At least the end will be in sight. Bright side, maybe? My ghost-like hide doesn't tan. I do pale to lobster & back, only. Funny you mention flying, I'm already looking for a school to finish my Instrument Rating... after I shake six years of rust off. Germany is a beautiful place, take it all in... You will need a mental happy place when you get to TX. Yes, seen so many lovely things here! I can sit in an air-conditioned corner, rocking back & forth with the furballs in a pouch, muttering 'remember the Rhein... think of Trier... visualize the Christmas markets in Bruge' Have fun short timer! Ein bier bitte! Wo ist der flughafen? Just one? Sure you don't want a case? They'll ship me out through Düsseldorf.

Hutch, you could ship them to one of us before you leave, but then you would have to come to Wisconsin or Missouri to get them.

Sorry Hutch, I didn't mean to be dissing Abilene, I'm sure it's not as bad as all that. When I passed through it was dark and rainy, just stayed the night, out quick and early. I was on a thirty-something mile journey all by my lonesome, towing my life In a u-haul trailer, so understandably a bit gloomy.
I actually enjoyed driving through El Passo, parts of TX are quite pretty and nice. Now east of TX, I really enjoyed AR, stayed overnight there too, but don't remember the name of the town. Very nice folk there! I also enjoyed passing through TN and VA, which I also stopped over in. Though, the SW will always be my fav!

I promise I'll give them back!!! I'll keep that in mind, ladies, though I don't believe it'll come to that. You say you'll give them back, Dawn, but just wait until Arthur starts working on you. He's proven to be quite the ladies-glider. Sorry Hutch, I didn't mean to be dissing Abilene, I'm sure it's not as bad as all that. You have nothing to apologize for Terry, you're hardly the first person I've talked to concerning the area. I've also been researching on-line and have yet to be impressed.
