Hi I have a 70" tall cage for my gliders. I'm going to have four gliders. How many glider can I have in one cage, and there different sexes too dose that matter, As long as they get a long. I read they are very family oriented and love the company. But some people were talking about separating and getting more cages and they only had three gliders. So I'm a tad confused?

Yes, they like big colonies in the wild, sometimes over 20 according to what I've read. Like any large family, they don't always get along is the problem. In the wild, they can spread out and gain some space when they need, but secured in a cage they're stuck together. That may lead to bickering & maybe outright fights, especially if there is a question of dominance.

I have four gliders (2 male & two females) that came to me together as joeys & the females are sisters. That made them joining as a colony much easier. You'll need to do slow & careful introductions to bring a large amount together... & need to keep in mind, like people, some glider may not get along ever.

As far as your cage size, you only gave the height, but I'm going to guess the other dimensions are equally impressive. Mine are well in a 60" x 40" x 15", so I can't see why yours would not be. Give them enough to play with & everyone should stay happy.

Like Hutch said, there is always a risk they may not get along. Be sure to neuter any males.

The height of your cage is nice, since they like to glide and jump, width is important too. Make sure bar spacing on the cage is at most 1/2" or less too.

To keep the bickering down, you will want to have multiple feeding stations.

Plus getting the food into the cage before they get up for the night will help.

We have a 7 glider colony. Our smallest female mary tends to be a bully sometimes, mostly to Link. But Gus can also once in awhile be a bully. In pouch they have a few spats from time to time during the day, but mostly sleep quietly. They take treats fine. we give them two sleeping pouches and they sometimes sleep separate. We put this colony together getting pairs of gliders from others they didn't want anymore. we have a mix of males and females. all males neutered

We have a 4 glider colony we got together, they have a few small spats in sleeping pouch but no fights, and no fights outside of pouch, I think they have been together for awhile, 1 male and 3 females. They get along very well.
