I have recently noticed fruit flies hanging out in and around my sugar glider cage. I clean the cage regularly and take out the leftover wet food from the previous night every morning leaving the dry food in there encase they wake up and want something (pretty much never happens). Should I be worried about there presence effecting the health of my babies? If so, does anyone have any recommendations for getting rid of the flies? Note: I also find them kinda annoying.

From an old archived post, but have seen it posted several times. Good luck. Let us know how it works for you. This is to be used outside of the cage thumb

Fruit Fly Cure:
Take a small glass and fill it with 1/2" with Apple cider vinegar and 2drops of dish washing liquid, mix well.
You will find those flies drawn to the cup and gone forever..

Karen is right. I usually put seran wrap over it and poke holes in it for the flies to enter.

It takes about 10 days to see results.

Fruit flies take 2-4 days to hatch.

You may also want to put a trap in the kitchen and be sure to take the trash out of the kitchen every other night while there is a fruit fly breakout. All they need is a moist source in order to lay eggs.

Be sure to scrub all bought fruit/veg's that set out on counter.
