Okay so I ordered the 1,000 quantity of mealworms like always. Well obviously my gliders can't eat them all at once...so over time (about 3 weeks) some of the older mealworms started turning into a cacoon like stage...then finally into a little brown beatle. Now I'm assuming since the mealworm's turn into these beatles that they'd be okay for the gliders to also eat...is that correct?

I'm pretty sure beetles have acid inside of them. Of course, knowing me, I probably made that up. Just be careful with them.

Haha I put Beatles, How stupid of me...Im too hung up on that oldies group ;-) Anyways..well I know my glider ate one..bye that was all. I just figured if they came from the mealworms they'd be fine. Maybe someone will come alone who knows for sure. Thanks though!

Put the mealies in the fridge and they won't turn to beatles. What I do is freeze mine. My gliders love them just the same and they'll last MUCH longer.

Me Either Lynsie!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" /> The mealworms are one thing, but I NEED the be'a'tles!! LOL!!
"Most" beetles produce an acid which guards them from preditors... that said, as a precaution, I would recommend not feeding them.
*Even 'spellcheck' wouldn't have picked up your 'Beatles' boo boo, lol!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/blush.gif" alt="" /> <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/roflmao.gif" alt="" />

Hmmm, I thought "beetles" were and okay source of food for suggies? I've never fed them though, but thought I read somewhere that they could eat them, but then again, maybe I dreamed it <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nixweiss.gif" alt="" /> lol.
Anyway, mine insist on the live ones, so if your's are the same way, ya can't freeze em, but do keep them in the fridge or they will continue to turn into beetles.

Here's a link with "bad bugs": No-No Critter Food ListI know there are different types of beetles, but it does look like they are on the no-no list.
