Hi all, need advise on the tail lost. i took over this glider (no idea the name yet) from a friend. Owner doesn't even realize that the tail is gone and no idea what happen it. Spotted without tail on 05/05/19. the tail seems to be still swelling and bleeding now. what i notice these few days.
- glider seems to be withdrawn. (no idea is it personality or because of tail lost)
- not much cage activities.
- is with its cage mate.
- no idea the actual age. (guessing around 6 years old from owner pic posted)
- did not seems to watch her eat BML. (i hand fed her a superworm)
- i'm using bml diet for them for the past 5 days.
- fur seems to grow more on the tail.
information on me.
- try to always adopt unwanted exotic pets.
- am still keeping glider.
- no vets for gliders in my country (most of them have no knowledge on gliders as it's illegal here)(tried and proven)

Thanks in advance for all the help given.
Jem

Have you seen the glider chewing on the tail?

Is she messing with her tail?

Is her buddy messing with it?

Any vet can weigh her, figure dosages and put her on antibiotics.

If she is leaving her tail alone she won't need an e-collar.

If her buddy is messing with it you will need to separate them.

Please keep us posted.

"Have you seen the glider chewing on the tail?" - hi xeno, with me for the past few days, i have not seen chewing. if you're asking before that, i'm not sure.

i tried checking out on them around 12am-3am, 4-5 times, they minimum activities. doesn't seems that the buddy is messing with the tail. I'm still monitoring though.
"Any vet can weigh her, figure dosages and put her on antibiotics." - Hi feather, Sorry to say but i'm very skeptical with that (very bad experience with a number of vets on exotics). But i will try out and discuss with a closer vet see if she can help. seems to me like she's not being annoyed by her tail.
and brand or type of antibiotics u can recommend?

It looks infected but I am not a vet obviously. I also do not know what a cut tail looks like when it is healthy. You do want to watch. Gliders like to clean their wounds. The other glider might “help”. You may consider separating them for a bit if you are not sure until you can figure it out.

But yeah, try to find a vet good with gliders.

My vet likes Clavamox for tail injuries.
