I am asking for deligent prayers for my girl , she has gotten dehydrated so I am giving her fluids via a mixture of half apple juice and cran/apple and then half pedilyte she has gone from 100grams on wedsday to cclose to 85 tonight she is balrey eating cuase of a sore we found in her mouth between two of her top right hind teeth on wensday while we had her alseep to check the sore looks like an ulcer sore and was red almost blood looking in redness under puss in her mouth .. Plus she has a set of 5 1/2 week old joeys she will try and eat her favs which is yougurt, mealies and avacados.. but will nto eat alot or enough of them she is on baytril for the infection and since I can barely get her to eat her BML I have been springing a few particals of rep cal in her crandouble apple juice with her baytril twice aday we tried to get a blood withdraw on her while they had her alsep but hte vet could not get it ... for a calcium level .. I can not get her to the vet till morning so please pray with me she does nto get any worse we have been fighting this infection for two weeks now it started with her intire face swollen and we just found out what was casueing her infection her face had gone down some before we put her to sleep to check her mouth but the one side kept sweelling and then going down and up while oin the baytril , that baytril was made up of pulverized pill and water this is all liquid base Baytril ... so it is a lil stronger

Sending healing prayers.

Marcy, with the babies at 5 1/2 weeks oop. and Mom back in the trio....to reduce further weight loss....suggest you pull the little ones from her now. They are big enough that you can now teach them how to feed from a dish for at night. Put several pieces of fleese in a pouch for them to help keep the little ones warm. During the day give them BML every six hours or so followed with a drink of water.

I like what Judie said. A second option, if she really loves nursing them, would be to at least supplement her milk quite a bit, by feeding the joeys BML every few hours. That will make them nurse less, and will leave more for her.

Think Judie has the right idea. When we pull them
that young, if they at first refuse to eat the
BML from a dish, we hand feed them with an eye
dropper until they get accustomed to the change
from mom's milk. Hand feeding will let you know
for sure that they are both eating.

Thank goodness, we have not had to go through the
tooth infection yet. That has to be painful for
the little mom. Hopefully the Baytril will stop
the infection. But if the cause is not treated
wouldn't it just return? Just rememberig back
to problems with people teeth. We are with you
in our minds and hearts. Know how helpless it
makes you fell to watch one of your little ones
suffer.
Hoping for a fast recovery

Marsha - she's so pretty! I wish I could help you with the fluids question but..... I'm sure someone with experience in that area will be on and comment. Meanwhile, know that I am thinking of Koala and hoping all will soon be well! <img border="0" alt="heart" title="" src="graemlins/heartpump.gif" />

Glad to hear Koala got excited about the mealies
and started eating. Maybe that will cause her to
also drink some fluid. You might try hand feeding
her some BML. Sometimes they will take it that
way when they refuse to eat from a dish. Just a
small amount would be better than nothing. We are
all pulling for you and your little mama.

Marsha, sorry I was out all afternoon getting glider supplies.

Make sure you turn the syringe with the needle right side up ...so you can tap the air out of the syringe when you push the plunger. A stream of fluids then will follow.

The fluids should be D5w which is a normal saline solution with added dextrose in water....to help prevent hypoglacemia during the period the glider will not eat. This will help with keeping her hydrated as well as some nurishment.

You have done a great job so far as for care being given to such a sick one. Hope this will help so she will be on her way to recovery soon.

Sending Get Well Prayers.

I am very hesitant to post this reply ..
I am at a loss if what the vet is trying now does not work and at a loss for wondeirng what exactly is going on with my wonderful girl .
As I ahve said before we found that she has a mouth ulcer looking sore in her mouth between two of her rear upper right hand side of her mouth that is in fected .. we have been on baytril for almost a whole two weeks with soem improvment although seh still swells up in the face then goes down , and then this week end she started going VERy dehydrated. and when I took her intoday her feet were whiteish in color and her gums were not really white either .. the vet does not know if this part is stress from being sick or something else , Also ALL of her Fecals have been normal and negative for parasites.. and bacteria . She has NO UTI and siunce her urine was so dark friday and saterday am I am to try and get a sample of her urine when I can and get it in to the vet cuase she would not go at the vets this am . This time she got a Shot of anit-biotics while at the vet and then new stuff sent home .. She has been in almost constant contact with Jackie Smith (bourbons vet) and has talked to BRadley (judies vet at least one of them ) a vet in Norman , OK that does gliders. and I do beleave Dr findley (another one fo Judies) She stated to me today that she is really getting concerned for Koala and sugest I take her to the vet in Norman after the new anti-biotics have a chance to start working to see what she says .. she has also added liqui-cal and Nutri -cal since she is not eating as much as she should to make sure her calcium level does nto go down during this medical crisis.. She wants the other glider vet to see Koala so she can see for her self whatr My vet has been talking about .. to ake sure we are not missing something and she does not die while in the process of tryint ot get her better .. for missing something . My vet is unable to get a good blood draw on her and is gonna have this other vet do it . I can not make it there till at least friday as even though MY vet is the greatest in trying to keep these bills as cheap as possible ( meaning not charging for actual office visits or checks and alot of services she is provideing execpt for the constant fecals and UT tests.. and meds.. ) my funds how ever are rapidly depleting .. we dont have anymore money comming in till friday .. and do have utilite bills to catch up on becaus e of the high price vist at the on call vets office two weeks ago .. JUST PLAESE keep praying for her ..

The vet in Norman , just called and wanted to hear from me how she was doing she had just spoke with my vet .. and is wanting to see her right away so she can xrays and other test done on her so we can get this thing licked after finding out EXACTLY what is going on with her and what is causing the sore in her mouth .. Had to ask if she would take a post dated check .. But oh well anything to get my girl better again .. PLease pray heavily that she is able to find the root of her problem tomorrow and that it is not TOo terribly expensive to do ..LOl and that it will be easy to fix her up and get her better.. I am not gonna be able to get any kind of near decent sleep till my baby is better once again ..
