I'd like to know too. My Peanut has gotten them on average of about 4 days a week for the past couple of years. No sign of anything wrong. Just a little booger in the corner of one eye.

Spread your wings and glide free of pain, Until the day I see you again.
God speed my precious angels. I love you. Mama.

There is nothing of consequence to worry about! I have seven gliders and all of them have them! I have gotten them used to being held just long enough for me to remove them with my finger. Of course, that is only based on my 8 yrs of experience. Perhaps someone with a more longstanding history will have something to say as well!

often times it can be a blocked tear duct. This causes no problems other for your than exessive eye buggers and sometimes skin infection from the repeated moister from tearing. If you have further concerns please seek advice from a vet experinced with sugar gliders.

I also would not think of this as a thing of worry. It happens with all animals [except my hamsters and birds] as far as I have seen. I get them from my rabbits' and guinea pigs' eyes, my cats' eyes, and I have had to get them from the eyes of dogs as well.
It seems to be a pretty normal thing. Just find something to remove it with.

When I get this in my pets I don't touch the eye itself, even after washing, I use a sterile q-tip. I however have never had this in my gliders, I am just giving a suggestion.

Whew! I feel alot better Peanut either gets it out himself or maybe it comes off in the pouch on a blankie. I don't touch his eyes. If I ever need to though, I'll use a sterile Q-Tip! Thanks for the info everyone!

Blocked tear duct, chronic conjunctivitis, allergies, occult sinus infection. I might suggest a disinfection wash (one made for the eye that won't burn or irritate) and antibiotics drops or ointment several times a day for a week and see if it can be made to clear and stay clear. Your vet needs to help you. The drops are easier to get in, but antibiotic ointment sticks around a long while and gets to surrounding area to help clear it up. I'd do ointment.

Austi, if it helps, a few of mine have had them on occasion, but only Riker had them with any regularity, and it's when he's got an infection. So I think schlep's suggestion is worth following up on.
