I`m so excited to try Nekton with my gliders tonight, it will be mixed in with (Goya) fruit juice, as I was directed to and I`m just wondering, being that this is the first time feeding it in place of their ensure (Darcy`s diet)do I need to start them out gradually so it doesn`t upset their tummies? I asked this question to the pro who referred me to this diet but I never did get an answer from her about that. But I`m wondering if it`s necessary being they`re used to getting fruit but not Nekton. I`m supposed to offer about 1/2 oz. per glider. What do you all think? Should I cut back on that amount and still offer ensure the same night? But I almost think that if I offer ensure it may throw the diet off. I`d like to get some opinions on this before tonight if possible. Thanks a bunch!

I'm not sure which diet you are switching to, but I would offer half of each to start with so as not to upset their tummies.

Unless a glider is on a very bad diet or one that they refuse to eat it is better to switch gradually if possible.

Nekton is a supplement made for sugar gliders. There are several different products by Nekton and they make one purely for gliders "Nekton for sugar gliders".

It contains minerals, proteins, vitamins and carbohydrates.

I`m not exactly switching to a new diet, I`m sticking with the Darcy`s diet but I`m not so sure that Nicky`s drinking his share of his ensure, that`s why I`m going to start offering the Nekton 2-3 times per week to help keep him healthy.

Thanks for the tip, I`ll start them out slowly with it <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I was just wondering where you heard of Nekton and why are you switching your suggies over to that from Darcy's? Were they having a problem with the Darcy diet? What else do you feed them besides the Nekton?

Suggiemama, we must have been typing at the same time lol. I`m not switching over, I`ve had a problem for a long time now with my oldest male not drinking the enure. I have 4 gliders and 3 of them love it and I`ve had no success with any other diet. I tried BML, 2 liked it and 2 didn`t. Someone told me to contact Donna Fritz from the Darcy`s diet web site and she recommended the Nekton to me. They`re still on the Darcy`s diet but 2-3 nights per week I`ll offer them the Nekton mixed in Goya fruit juice instead of the ensure, along with their protein, fruits and veggies still. I`m doing this for Nicky because he won`t drink the ensure, plus I hear it`s good for gliders anyways. They say it makes their coats more shiny and tails are more fluffy after feeding Nekton.
