Is it just Gizmo, or do all gliders hate the peels on fruit and vegatables? I hate the idea of peeling off the most nutritious layer, but if I don't he either won't eat it, or he'll leave the outer layer anyway.

I believe most gliders, being sap suckers, will chew a bit on the outer peel, and then spit it out. I tend to peel my fruit anyway, because I want to be absolutely certain they're getting just the pure fruit (and no goobies on the skin). Even with the "normal" veggie mix I offer (peas, carrots, corn, green beans), there is always a colorful fiesta mix of spit-out food after they've enjoyed the nutrients. That's perfectly normal. smile

I think that mine actually enjoy peeling their own food - got to love it when you go to pickup what you think is a thrown away pea only to find that it is a thin shell. wink

Yea they don't eat the peels. They suck out the guts and throw the rest all around my room. But they're so cute so I have to deal with corn peels and pea shells and all that good stuff all over.

I do peel the fruits even after I wash them because I worry about residue/pesticides. Even though I buy at a health food market, I'm a worry wart. The veggies go in straight from the freezer wink

I always peel my fruits....Specially since I shop at evil wal-mart...you never know how many people have handled the produce.
