Very Sad
By: SugarGliderLover
A couple of weeks ago, I had to go on an overnight trip for choir, which I really did not want to go on. So, I had to leave my sugar glider alone, but my mom said she would put food in for him that night. Unfortunately, I forgot to close the cage, which I normally leave open. Well, when I came back, my mom told me about how he got out of the cage, and, because someone had opened the door to my room, he got into my little brother's room. My little brother didn't know he was there until he was walking in his room and heard the crabbing noise under some clothing. After, he was 'safely' returned to the cage. So I went to visit my sugar glider in his cage, and brought him out because he was lying strangely on the bottom of the cage. I soon discovered that he seemed to be paralyzed in his back legs. It was late at night and I tried to care for him by giving him water to hold him until we could get him to the vet. Sadly enough, he died that night, May 22nd, at 1:00a.m. The really sad thing is, he was just recovering from being ill and he was almost healthy. I know it is because my brother stepped on him when he was in his room, but it is not his fault because he didn't realize it was there. It is only my fault and I regret that I couldn't get out of my choir trip. The real thing I want to say, though, is be careful about keeping the cage closed. I have heard of lots of cases where it has ended in tragedy.

I wanted to add to this...
Make sure your cage door is locked securely. I myself, lost a precious Glider, Kelso. []http://www.sugarglider.net/ubb/sad.gif[/]
He squeezed out and made his way down to the dogs room. My dogs didn't attack him, they licked, played and loved him to death. Just to add to that, your glider COULD get stuck and if it's not death it still could be a LOT of vet bills. []http://www.sugarglider.net/ubb/sad.gif[/]
