BML vs. Priscilla's Diet #178454

Just a question on diets as related to odor.

Has any one noticed a change (reduction) in odor from switching from Priscilla's diet to the BML?

I currently use Priscilla's diet (that is who I bought my gliders from) and I love it. They seem to love it too... always have. So I don't have a problem with the diet per say. I do, however, have a problem with the odor of my gliders. I have two girls and we are getting ready to hit the road for a year. (Live in a trailer and homeschool our kids) So in such a confined space I am more concerned with the odor my girls put out. I have posted several times and some folks seem to think it could be diet related. This post is just asking if anyone else has switched diets from something to BML and noticed an improvement in the amount of odor.

Thanks for all responses.

Paige

I have to say I have been to Priscillas house a couple of times, she has a room FULL of cages and you can not tell she has one glider in her home, so I really do not think it is because of her diet that you are feeding if you are following it properly.

A female glider really should have no odor and since you have two of them, it kind of sent off a red flag for me. Have you taken them to the vet and had them checked out for a UTI? It is very unusual for a female to have an odor. Also, how often do you clean the cage and the toys and pouches? The problem may be that you are overcleaning and therefore making them mark more than they normally would.

I would definitely recommend a vet visit to have a wellness check done and dont overclean.

What is UTI?

My girls are very healthy and I do stick to the diet very, very strickly. I also have tried several different methods for cleaning and it just doesn't seem to matter. It is not the girls that stink themselves but instead their pee and/or poo. The only reason I was asking about diet is because I had another glider for a few weeks and she never ever smelled bad at all. She had been on a different diet until I got her, so I thought that might be a connection. That and another person here on GC suggested that it might be diet related.

If it is the urine that is smelling bad, I strongly suggest a trip to the vet. thumb
