Well, I was giving Glider kisses before i went to sleep, and as i was putting Kahlua back in their cage, Her Cloaca is bright red with dried feces partly coming out, like she couldn't finish going to the bathroom. I hope I am not over paranoid, but I think I must go to the vet. I cant go now, but most DEFFINATELY in the morning. What do you thinnk I should do? I mean, it does NOT look normal, shes been acting a little sleepy, but that's all. I havent noticed anything else wrong with her. I hope its just a false alarm. Im sorry if i sounded "disturbing" to anyone, but i am lost at why she would look like that,,,,

You need to take her to the vet. In the mean time, try putting some Vaseline or something of the sort no her cloaca. Maybe it will help her pass the rest of her poop. Also, offer her some apple juice or a little vegetable oil. When you go to the vet, have your vet check her for dehydration. If her skin tents at all tell him to give her sub-q fluids. Then, your vet is going to most likely have to physically remove the feces if she still hasn't passed it. If he has to do that, have him give her an enema (he'll need to use a very small cathider, some lubricant, about 2cc of warm water). Also have your vet run a fecal float and do a fecal smear.
Your little girl will be fine

Rosa, I'm sorry, I guess everyone went to bed! I can't add anything to what Dutchesslively already posted. Please let us know what the vet says.
I too went to bed at 3 am or so. I am sorry I missed this thread to help you and your glider.
She is severly impacted. My suggestestion is to get her to a vet this am and ASAP. She may be dehydraded as well and need sub-q'ing of fluids. Enema sounds like it is needed.
If possible...have the vet do a fecal float along with a cytology as well and a UA.
Let us know how she is doing after the vet visit....poor little one, looks pretty painful. So sorry we were not around when you first posted. I am usually out like a light at 9-10 pm. Keep us posted on her.

Rosa, sending prayers your vet quickly helps your wee one. It sure does look uncomfortable for her. Poor thing.

OK, Well, After a $189.00 vet visit, I am back. Kahlua is still with my vet But, she had an intestinal blockage, they couldnt let me into see the doctor till 330, which was ridiculous, she WAS dehydrated, and the doctor said they needed more of a variety of foods, with more liquids. i printed out these posts to take so i can just have everything done at once, i brought bailey too, in case it was contagious. He said they needed more fiber in their diet, and they need more calcium, which i didnt understand. Anyways, they did an anema on her, and the same thing that happened last night happened again, a milky like substance along with diahrea just POURED OUT, she had to be sedated before all this, because she was going absoloutly nuts. SHe was skunking the vet, and just stressing herself out. The doctors also said it looks like last night while i was trying to get the little sleep i did, she was biting at her cloaca, and it is even more irrated then it was last night. I am really considering switching to another diet, with more of a variety. Bailey was ALSO dehydrated. I was thinkign about the ENSURE diet. I'm going to read around. Sorry I kept you all waiting. thanks for the concern about my little girl Im sorry if I sounded rude last night, i was just frustrated
[:"CC6699"] Just to let everyone know, Rosa is currently on the SunCoast diet. I recommended the Ensure diet to her because I was also on the SunCoast diet and constipation could be a reason why Bandit was constantly messing with his coclea. When I switched to the Ensure diet, he hasn't had a problem since.
I am glad to hear everything is okay Rosa! [/]

Had to be a terrible experience. Have you tried the BML diet plan with your gliders by chance?
Have to agree about the vet thing...they do charge an arm and part of a leg. But on the other hand...if she is going to be ok after this...it was money worth spending.
Hope the other tests came out ok. Let us know how she is doing once home from the vet.
Glad to hear she will be ok! Give her lots of cuddles and extra mealies when she gets home.

Wow, such an ordeal! Glad to hear she's okay. If she was self-mutilating, is there a chance she'll continue? Just wondering. Is the vet going to give pain meds? Or do you have an e-collar handy, just in case?
Sending prayers she'll be back to her perky self when you pick her up tomorrow.

The vet gave a cream to put on her i think Bactril? , no pain meds though I'll let you know how she is when I pick her up Thanks everyone! Judie~ My gliders were on the BML diet for a short amount of time, and I think they got kinda of "bored" with it. I'm thinking about going back to it, but I really want to look around before making a final decision.

I totally feel your pain about the vet bill...I spent $217 on Kai on Thursday (a week after his $82 neutering)...my vet also said that he would like to see more fiber in his diet and suggested adding monkey biscuits or crickets (the chitin in the exoskeleton will help clean out the digestive tract like fiber).

Wow, Amie, they didn't tell me that! hmm, Now, Im really stuck. I think a diet change is deffinately a good idea, and I think Im going to get a bag of Monkey biscuits. Do you have a reccomendation as to where to buy them? Anyways, Im going to continue to look into diets, and make my final decision!
THanks again everyone!

Oh! Rosa, I just read this. What a scare. I'm sorry your little on has been sick. I know you are looking foward to getting her home. You and Kahlua are both in my Prayers.

Most petstores that sell birds and bird food have them. They usually have them in bins that you can scoop as many as you want out. That way you don't have to buy a lot to see if your girls will actually eat them or not. I'm not sure if Petsmart or Petco carries them, but I know a lot of stores that specialize in birds do.
