Hi all,

I know that certain types of woods are bad for sugar gliders if they chew on them but what about when the same woods are burnt? Normally I would not worry too much about the burning wood but I recently moved all of my gliders into the basement where our wood burning stove is.
almost all of the fumes go out through the chimney b/c its all newly installed.

Can anyone tell me if this would be compromising to their health in any way? We will need the heat in a couple of days so I need to know soon incase I must move them.

Thank you, Peggy

Wow, what a great question. Wish I knew the answer.

I would say it would be important to have a carbon monoxide monitor in the room for your sake as well as your suggies.

I am sure someone will be along soon who has more answers.

Godspeed

I'm not positive about the answer here, but can tell you that when my family travels to WV, we always take our gliders with us. Our house there is totally heated by a wood-burning stove and by a fireplace. I always place the gliders in the room where the wood-burning stove is and have never had any issues with the gliders getting sick from it. I know that we have burned oak, maple, walnut and cherry logs in the stove & fireplace...

I'm not certain of the answer either, but would say like Angel that a carbon monoxide monitor is important to have. Try to make sure the room is well ventilated.
