Does anyone know about the use of Cleaning Products around your glider? Like lets say I wanna use Pine Sol to mop the floor.. would the fumes be toxic or something? I just wanna make sure if I mop my gliders dont croak! Any other cleaners that I should be aware about? Thanks!!

Anything with a really strong smell (bleach, oven cleaner, etc) should be used in a very well ventilated area and I wouldn't use it around my gliders. You could move them out of the room you are cleaning and return them after the fumes have gone. I think Pinesol is okay to use as long as the air isn't stagnant. Your gliders should be fine. There are pet friendly cleaners (orange clean?) that you could use if you are concerned.

Didn't know about orange clean, thanks. What i usually do is clean around them with GSE (Grapefruit Seed Extract) & then mop with some weak Lysol (cause I like the lemon scent), which is the only thing I dont like about the GSE (no order, but I guess thats good). I actually have been doing this for a while (before Jazzy & Pixie) because of my Grey. They can be very sensitive.

If you like to use products like Pine Sol, Lysol, Mr. Clean, etc., please make sure you rinse the floor really, really well. I read some articles that said the residue from these products will kill kidney cells immediately if ingested. It was an article regarding renal failure in cats and dogs. I don't use any of those products because of my grandkids and animals. If you can, try to find some of the natural cleaners. Amway's LOC is an excellent cleaner and is biodegradeable. It would be safe to use. Also, a drop or two would clean pouches really well. Again, just give everything a good rinse.

Good luck.
Sue

For a lack of info on toxin dangers & our <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/littleglider.gif" alt="" />'s, I have always referred to bird/parrot hazards & felt that it is a pretty good indcator of toxins!

Here is just a few sites from my files -

We have exotic birds along with my 8 sugar gliders and we use Kenolsol...the zoo's use it because it is safe around pets and is not toxic if ingested. It alo kills 99% of germs. we use it to clean the water bottles and just rinse them out!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumb.gif" alt="" />
