LOL pockets.. yes I did have a fit, and there are many other
diets out there I also had a fit with and still do. it wasn't so much when you brought it in , as it was the sidestepping the Rich (Jim's Nephew) was doing with the ingredients and nutritional content when he was discussing it.
I have spoken with Jim, on many occassions regarding the pet pro, he has changed it, and sends me the changes when he does. The food is very hard, and some gliders do have problems with that, Baybe is one of them, I have spoken with Jim extensivly on this and he has no problem with soaking it in apple juice, in fact others must of also voiced their concerns as well, when I told him that Baybe gets Lumpy jaw every time I feed it, even after I soak it in apple juice, he suggested I leave it in the refrigerator over night in a ziplock baggie soaking.
nutritionally the
diet he has set up is not a complete plan, and he states that on the package, it is only a staple. He states on the package to feed with fruits, veggies and proteins.
he also changed his packaging to reflect the proper storage of it. after that fiasco with Briskys.
Briskys states when there are problems, that it is a storage problem, his says to store in a cool dry place, But when something happens he states that it should be stored in a refrigerator or freezer. the pet pro states to store in refrigerator or freezer on the package.
also the way he makes his food is very different than other manufactures, he uses an extrusion process, that heats the food by friction, there fore preserving the nutritional values of the ingredients.
keeping in mind that the "balance of the
diet is in the end dependant upon the owner , just as many other
diets out there does, because the owner must supply other things to it. fruits, veggies, and proteins.
anyone with any questions should feel free to contact Jim himself regarding his
diet, as he has nothing to hide and will feel free to talk to anyone about their concerns.
This in itself sets him above many of the commercial manufactures out there. there are no "trade secrets".
also when the aflatoxin issues can up a few years back all the manufactures that used corn as their base, was contacted, he is the only one that wanted to know how to check for it, as well as what he could do to reduce the risks.
I myself have used the pet-pro as a feed when traveling, as well as on the nights I did not have bml made up. outside of Baybe , I haven't had any problems with it. but Baybe gets lumpy jaw everytime I use it.
as far as change is concerned, change must be flexable according to research, and when it warrants it then it is a good thing, we are still learning everyday regarding the dietary needs of our gliders here in the states in captivity.
I don't get a discount for sending people to him.
but the concerns I have regarding his food, he knows I will voice and I allow others to make their own decision, again he has no problem with discussing his food with anyone. feel free to contact him directly.
