On Thursday, I played with my two gliders, Giblet (who is very tame) and Chaco (who is very timid and depends on Giblet) as usual. I put them away at night and went to bed. In the morning, I woke to find Chaco out of his cage. They had somehow escaped. Luckily, my boyfriend and I had "glider proofed" the apartment before we moved in...so I wasn't very concerned until I couldn't find Giblet. On my lunch break that day, I came home to contiue the search. Still no Giblet. That night, I figured that he would surface...but he didn't. We looked everywhere. We pulled the dishwasher out of the wall, took apart the oven, pulled the fridge from the wall, put a hole into the wall underneath the sink...but nothing. I called Giblet's name into the walls for hours...even an entire day once. Still nothing. Four times a day I would call Giblet's name and listen to the walls, thinking I would hear him, but didn't. It was like he disappeared! By Sunday, I was loosing hope and had been crying non-stop since Friday night. As a last resort, we pulled the oven out again and began to take apart the back side. Just as we popped off the metal casing, there Giblet was...he had somehow crawled into the back of the oven and squeezed himself into a hole where the wiring system was. He had been electricuted. I screamed in horror GOD NO!!! And dropped to the floor where I balled harder than I ever have. His sweet little body was still clutching onto the wires. He was such a good soul and I am so uncontrolably depressed now. I loved that little man so much and now he's gone. We had him just over a year, since last Christmas. Now, poor Chaco, is alone and I feel gross about getting another glider...but it would be for Chaco's sake, right? I will never forget my sweet baby Giblet.

Michiko,
My very first post just a few weeks ago was about the loss of one of my sugar gliders. I know what it's like to fall to the floor and cry for the loss of your glider.
I am so sorry that this happened to you.
The people on this board are very supportive.
Chaco will be sad, and you should spend as much time with him as you can. Don't feel like you have to get a new glider right away, but you should know that when I got a new glider, it helped my surviving glider tremendously.
It is hard, and you want to be sure you are in the right frame of mind to raise a new baby. It takes a lot of effort emotionally.
Please let us know how Chaco is doing.

I know how you feel. When I lost my Arrow due to hypoglycemia I cried for days. I just lost him the beginning of November. I cried when I read your story for I feel your pain. Arrow was a pet store glider that took a long time to tame and he was sooo sweet and sooo bonded to me. I will be praying for you and your family and to get another when you're ready isn't such a bad idea. I ended up picking up two rescues because I needed gliders in my life. Arrow was a lone glider but the rescues needed a home and I felt better being able to give them a good one. Hang in there and remembe we all care here!!! []http://www.sugarglider.net/ubb/sad.gif[/]

That is so sad, I'm in tears. []http://www.sugarglider.net/ubb/images/icons/frown.gif[/] This reminds me of the pain I had felt when my first glider had died right in my hands. She couldn't last anymore w/ her resperatory problem, thet vet said there was nothing he could do, but just love her 'till he last moment on earth. I think of her all the time at night. I know how you must feel, it's hard, I know. I don't know what else to say, expcept I'm sure your glider had a wonderful life on earth w/ you. It was time for her to glide to heaven, and live among the golden tree tops.

Oh, and I believe that getting another glider for your remaing glider will be the right way to go. This is what I had to do. Your glider may be having a rough time going through this as well.

That is truly the saddest thing ever. I have lost a glider before due to hind leg paralysis and I had to watch my glider die slowly. It was very painful. He just died one morning on the bottom of the cage. He was so cold. Well, anyway, I am truly sorry for your loss. I know how it feels. I had my Peanut for about a year and I was heartbroken.
My prayers are with you all.
Susy
