How would you hang toys, branches, water bottles, food dishes, etc. in a reptarium? I just now thought of that.

I don't use a water bottle, I use a water dish that I put in the glider kitchen at the bottom of the cage. I have two glider kitchens at the bottom, one for food and the other for water I have a wheel at the bottom and I've used mardigras necklaces across the cage to hang stuff. I'll go take a few pictures of my cage now to show you what it looks like <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

A glider kitchen is the thing that Hope made...it's just tupperware with a lid turned upside down and holes cut in the side. You'll see them at the bottom. Here is the first picture of the top of my cage.

Here is the next picture of the bottom of the cage. It's messy, because I haven't cleaned it yet. I wanted to give an example of the glider kitchens and I always clean it at night anyways. If they are going to be in the cage, then I take out the glider kitchens and leave a water dish at the bottom of the cage.

Neat. How did you hang your toys, though? I didn't see that part.

I don't have branches in this cage, because I don't have the right kind to put in yet. I'm looking for a taller one to go from the bottom to the top

If your dad is making it for you, have him put eye hooks every 4 inches or so around the top and down a little on the sides. It's even better if he makes it with a cross-bar on the top, then you'll have tons of space to hang things. Here's a picture of the top of mine.

I got mine from KattyM and she bought hers. I want to make one, but I don't have room for a wider one.

You can find some pictures of my reptarium decor in this thread. And more of my reptarium decor here. Plus, I'll add a close up pic that I took of Philip, Lillian, and Oscar chillin in their rept. yesterday.

Those are some great pictures. I wish I could use a reptarium but my gliders like to chew so they would escape in no time.

JellyBean, You are very creative...however, some of the pictures I have seen kind of put a <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" /> in my mind...It looks like some of the things in there would be too easy for a glider to get tangled in or hung up on something. They look like strings, too thin of strings actually. You may consider running the beads all the way across and not allowing any of the string to show or accessible. Just want to keep you the cautious glider momma that you are! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumb.gif" alt="" />

Actually, the one string that goes across I just hung that up this morning while they were playing still so I could see how long I needed the string. I was experimenting on how loose I wanted it and stuff...just didn't take it out again. That is the only thing they could get tangled up in..everything else...tangle free...just like no knots shampoo!! Yay!! Thanks, Peggy!!!

That's a great idea Lisa! I was going to post a pic of the solution I came up with, but the digital camera has no batteries at the moment. I'll try to explain it though.

What I did was take several pieces of ribbon and made a grid/net at the top. There are 5 pieces going from one side of the reptarium to the other, and 6 going from front to back. I made them long enough that I could sew a loop at each end to slip over the poles, and pinned the ribbons together where they crossed each other. Then I sewed it together at each place where the ribbons cross. If you've seen the "play nets" I think they're called that someone is selling, it looks somewhat like that on a smaller scale. That way I have a grid at the top that I can hang toys from. It's working out really well. I was using shower curtain rings, but this is a more permanent solution and I really prefer this way.

Here is a picture of what the eye hooks I used look like. I got a really small size, but you can get them bigger. We just drilled a little hole in the pvc where we wanted a hook and screwed the hook in. They work great! I even took some branches and attached hooks to the end so I can hook them into the reptarium and still be able to take them off easily for washing. The picture shows a dime beside the hook... which the flash made it hard to see. But I put it in there to compair size.

Does anyone have instructions on how to build a 175 G rept? Also, is the normal rept frame as strong as PVC or would PVC be stronger?

I have me a little idea. I was thinking of buying some sort of mesh material and hanging it at the top of the cage and hanging some toys from it. Then, a little lower, use the bead string thing. Also, use a sfatey pin to hang the pouch up. Is that alright? Any suggestions? Thanks!

[:"blue"]Megi: I'm sorry I don't have the instructions for building a 175 rept but I don't think it would really matter whether it was the frame that comes with the rept or PVC. In a 175 either would be fine.

ToxicWire: I use repts are permanent enclosures for all my gliders and DO NOT suggest hanging anthing from the mesh itself. At one time I thought this would be possible but have now changed my mind as it seems to compromise the mesh. I hang my pouches either from the shelf or the frame itself. [/]
