Always make sure you close the cage door. Even if you are just going to the next room to answer the phone, always close the cage door. Gliders are very fast animals and can quickly get lost. I talked to a friend today and they told me about their first experience with this matter. Last night, apparently he had his glider out and was playing with it. At about 12:30 (his glider wakes at about 8:50-9:00), he was settling down to go to sleep, and he says he accidently left the door open. He woke up at about 4:40 for some odd reason and saw that the door was open. Said he was frantic even though he had just waken up. Thankfully, even though the glider must have been out for about 4 hours, that whole time, the glider never left the room (and the room he is in is not glider proof). He immediately heard the glider on top of the television (noisy claws). He was lucky that the glider did not leave outside the vicinity of his cage. He may not be so lucky next time. Please, for the safety of the glider, ALWAYS CLOSE THE CAGE DOOR! It is not worth the life of a glider.
DeMarcus and *Andre*
[This message has been edited by DeMarcus (edited 05-06-2001).]

Tahnks a lot for the reminder. Rocky has never gotten out and if he did I would just break down and cry my head off.
Laura []http://www.sugarglider.net/ubb/images/icons/wink.gif[/] and Rocky []http://www.sugarglider.net/ubb/images/icons/blush.gif[/]

We had a similar experience just yesterday. We went to be and and all the gliders were in there cages, but I guess I didn't secure the door well enough because yesterday morning one of are little girls was gone. I was very upset and proceeded to rip apart the house looking for her. Then late last night we heard nosies and found her on the kitchen counter. We were very happy to have her back as was her mate Seymour. I now double check the doors every time I open and close them.
Emmy,Don
Seymour,Edna []http://www.sugarglider.net/ubb/images/icons/blush.gif[/]
Porky,Petunia,Penelope []http://www.sugarglider.net/ubb/images/icons/blush.gif[/]
Sammy,Sadie []http://www.sugarglider.net/ubb/images/icons/blush.gif[/]

I've had that happen with my gliders in the middle of the night as well. Definitely a good reminder!

Has happened to me too. Luckily they just go over to the other cage and tease the other two gliders. I now have to check the cage door at least 3 times a night...my husband thinks I am developing a obsessive compulsive disorder.
------------------
Teresa & Gang
Brett, Gracie, LeRoy and Puggie
