I keep hearing about these custom cage covers that you put on the cage to prevent BML from getting on the walls (which would be very bad for me, as I am renting), but I can't seem to find any pictures. Does anyone have any pictures of these cage covers? I also seem to have lost the addy of the site that sells them, so it'd be great if someone could provide me with that information. Thanks in advance! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Hello there. I have 3 of LisaSmith's covers and they are awesome. She will ask you what size your cage is and what fabric you would like and she will give you a quote and if you like it she will make it for you. She is very fast too.

Her website address is: http://www.glidersanonymous.com/pouches.html

I hope this helps.

Or you could try out a "Glider Kitchen".....just do a search here and you'll find all the different styles......very easy!

Thanks for the link! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I've read about the glider kitchens. I planned on building one until I kept reading that it only caught 90% of the thrown food. That's a lot, but that's still 10% that will end up on the walls that I don't own <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ooo.gif" alt="" />. I'll have to weigh out the costs and effectiveness of both. Thanks for your help <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />!

You are very welcome Tracie. I love Lisa's covers. I have a Scooby Doo, Shreck and a moon and stars one and they are just awesome. It also helps darken the cage up a bit so it don't hurt their itty bitty eyes when it is bright out. Good luck on what ever you decide.

So the covers are to catch thrown food and to help keep it dark? Dont they want to see whats going on around them?

I have never heard of glider cage covers lol

I use it to keep the food in, to help decorate the cage and also to help darken. I take it off when they are just running around playing but if they are sleeping or eating the cover is always on. I love them and I already am thinking of ordering a couple more soon. I think the covers are awesome but then again that is just my opinion.

John- Where do you plan on getting your gliders, or are you not sure yet? I live about 5 hours South of you, so I was wondering if you were aware if there were any breeders in our area. Just let me know, please <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/cool.gif" alt="" />

Thanks so much Robyn! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

Here is a pic of one of the cage covers I have made. They are all custom made to fit your cage... so prices vary according to how much fabric is needed. But they are great at keeping food splatter off the walls and like Robyn said, keeping the bright light out. I also have found them very helpful when you have cages close together and males that don't like each other. With the cover on, they can't see each other and don't try to fight through the cages.

Those are great <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/yelclap.gif" alt="" />! Thanks for the picture. I'll order one when I'm absolutely positive of the dimensions of my cage. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif" alt="" />

I just received my cage cover from Lisa. All I can say is WOW! She does wonderful work! I went with the bamboo pattern and it is just exactly what we wanted, it really gives the cage that jungle look. My bf could not believe how little I paid for it, he said he would have been willing to pay twice as much because of the concern for workmanship and glider safety was obviously a factor in making them. Gosh Lisa, I am starting to sound like an infomercial for you cage covers, but I can't tell you how happy we are with it. Peanut and Furby and sniffing it all over, I'm sure they will have it stinking like them in no time! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/laugh.gif" alt="" />

Do your gliders snag their toes on the cage cover? My gliders' nails grow at lightning speed - I have seen them snag their toes on fleece less than a week after getting them trimmed!

Mine don't climb on the cage cover. They climb underneath it! Silly things! I've never had any problems. Cage covers are an absolute MUST in my house. BML is so messy that I would change to Zookeeper's Secret if the little darlings didn't love the BML so much. I never realized that the corner of my apartment wall was COVERED in BML until I needed to move the cage. I had to get it off the walls before I could move into my current apartment. It took two hours of using Softscrub, Lime Away (pretty heavy duty stuff!), and Wet Wipes to get it all off!!! I'll find out in a few weeks if I'll get my deposit back. Keep your fingers crossed for me!

My gliders run under it too, but I think they enjoy pulling at it from the inside more. I have a length of fleece on top of my cage right now (not a real cage cover), and their travel cage sits on top of it, so the fleece doesn't move too much if it's pulled. I can hear them at night running across the top of their cage (from the inside) and they are running on the fleece. If you lift up the fleece, you can see where their nails have pulled it between the bars and where the fleece is fuzzier from contact with them.

My gliders run all over the cage and cage cover inside and out and have never snagged their nails. Previous to purchasing the cover from Lisa, I was using bath towels. Although they never snagged their nails on the bath towels, someone on GC pointed out that it was a danger (which never crossed my mind as a fairly new, naive and still learning glider owner). The new cage cover is great, there is not a string or hem or stitch that I can find that could possible harm my little girls.

I just got my cage cover from Lisa (Glider Anonymous) and it's perfect!!! I am so happy about it and officially recommend her 100%!!! She even threw in a matching hammock for free. Pics soon, I promise. This is going to look so great on the new cage!
