I m positive these are bite marks, don't want to beleive it, but they must be. Char and Fizz have had joeys before without any problems, but seems they have injured both their joeys around the eyes, both the same eye too. I don't think its an infection, but why both jeoys in the same spot? Could it be she is not making enough milk. Im beginning supplimentling today.

could it be from sharp nails?
i have a female that gave me some trouble too,i will now have to retire her,it seems when they decide on a spot it is almost a comulsion and they start with over grooming and for wahtever reason the particular spot they chew or nibble.
i have heard many expereince it with ears or even feet.
the female i have with the problem is a tail chewer.
first a normal single joey then they had twins with half tails,we seperated and re-paired the spare female hoping that was the stressor, but her next single was very obviously chewed on the tail when it came OOP,sooo being that it was healed by time they came OOP we have strong beleif now it was the mommy, soo she will be retired to a non-breeding colony we are starting up once this current joey is weaned. It relaly sucks when this happens, some mommies just aren't ment to be i suppose. i would let her try one more time tho,see if it was a one time thing, cuz that is possible,if she does it again then she would probably need to be retired from breeding.
So how bad are the injuries to the eyes, and have they already healed, did ulcers develop? If the injuries haven't fully healed yet they should be given eye ointment from the vet and looked at with the proper lighting to see how much injury was done and how deep it goes, they may even need to use a die and do a special test done for checking the eyes, its fairly simple but u may be looking at a bit of a bill when all is said and done:(
wish u the best of luck with this,do let me know how bad it is and how things progress.
i am going to m u too

k i couldn't get this pic to work for me at first (my PC is getting old LOL) but i got it to work after,i see it now and it does look pretty raw still...hmmm this could have been parent mutalation as the fear is but another possible is there was an infection and the mom tried to clean it up at some point, really no way off knowing but its pretty raw they will definitly need something to help the healing along.lets hope it heals well with minimal damge and scarring

I had put some bvp ointment on both (wont burn their eyes if it gets in) Im supplimenting them with wombaroo right now, hopefully it will give mom some catch up time, as I really think its from her fussing at them over the nursing. Keeping a close eye on them, I'll update tomorrow!

Supplementing is a very good ideea. Even if it's only a few times a day. I had one little one rejected by his mom.. and he had big ol owies on his face and one eye. With me supplementing him... everything seemed to go a lot better. His owies healed and he grew up to be a healthy little man. Good luck with these 2. I think you're doing what's best for them!

Both joeys are doing much better . I only supplimented them for 3 or 4 days, and continue to sprinkling wombaroo on mommies food. No further problems concerning either parent acting aggressively since the initial episode. Here are new pictures, first the girl with mom .

Krystal, what happens is right after the babies come oop, mom's hormones kick in and she rebreeds, this temporarily stops or significantly slows her milk production, so, she has little or nothing to feed them, that's usually why they do that and then in a few days are fine.
Good luck, the babies are sooo cute!!!!!!!!
