Okay, when I got Honey, she was a chunk. Well, actually, she was FAT. She weighed 180 grams and she had roles... I put her on a diet and the weight quickly came off, but then she got pregnant with Daisy and Yoshi. When she got pregnant I upped her protein and food, but she lost a lot of weight at first. I eventually got her weight under control, but she stayed on the lean side for a while. Well... Honey has a joey in pouch right now and I've continued to feed her the diet I fed to help her maintain weight with her last joeys. To say the least, it's working... She's actually started to get kind of pudgy and I'm worried that she might get fat again. I don't want to change her diet because she's doing so well with this joey, but I don't want her to get fat. She's got a wheel and she loved to run, but since the joey has gotten so big so quickly she hasn't been able to run for the last couple of weeks and the joeys not due OOP for about a month if I have my dates right. What should I do in the mean time? I don't want to change her diet, she won't run in a wheel because the baby gets in the way, and she's a pretty mellow glider (no running, jumping, gliding, etc). Is there anything I can do to help her watch her weight? Is it normal/good for females to get fat when they have joeys IP? Will she loose the weight once the joey comes OOP?

I noticed with my Kyra she looks fat when she has joey's ip..but when they are oop she looks good...when she does have babies ip she doesn't do much like on the wheel etc....
Kyra is working on her third set of twins from what i have seen...thats all she has had is all twins......From what you have said she is ok weight wise but i am still a newbie at this..some may think.....I look at it this way aslong as she looks healthy and not skin and bones or lots of flab then all is great!

I'm just worried she'll get fat again like she was when I got her. I'm going to go weigh her... The ideal weight I have written down for her is 110 grams with out a joey IP...

Okay, I need to get a new battery for my scale. It said she weighed 96 grams... At her thinnest, she weighed 105 grams and she's kind of fat pudgy right now. I think it's been reading low lately. I recently got a very large new male and it said he only weighed 100 grams... I'll post her weight later today once I get a new battery.

I think you are right about not changing her diet, it might stress her out--I wouldn't worry about it too much for right now unless it gets really out of control, maybe just try and take her out for out of cage play time more often to get her running around(?) Good luck, but I'm sure she'll be fine once the joey comes OOP. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/thumb.gif" alt="" />

Honey doesn't run around... She's really rather lazy. She likes to run in her wheel, eat, and mate, lol. Other than that she just sleeps. She will play with feather teasers, but lately she hasn't been showing any interest in anything other than eating and sleeping.
