Couple things to say for self mutilators out there:

Tork had his nueter and partial penis amputation today (read "penis amputation :(((((( for more info).
Anyways, I took him to the vets and after talking with this vet before, I thought she knew the basics of sm's... But when she called to tell me how he was, she mentioned that they took his ecollar off and he's doing fine. ?!?!? You CANNOT take off a sm's ecollar 5 minutes after surgery!!! tant I even told her that in our previous discussion, AND i told the nurse when i dropped him off.

SO.. if you have a sm'ing glider, write it in blood on your forehead that they cannot remove the collar! Just thought I'd get that out there. Whew.. ok.. deep breath.

Now the last tip I have for a sm'er wearing an ecollar:
is to buy/sew one of those pouch protective style pouches... and hang it so its spread open in the cage. The bottom of mine hangs about 3" above the ground, and it makes it super easy for tork to get in and out of with his collar, and its comfy. Ill post a pic of it soon, too.

Ok thats all, nighty night.

Sometimes, they just don't get it, do they? shakehead It's a good thing you talked to them when you did!
I did a similar thing, pouch wise, when my Gizmo was in an e-collar. I made an extra-large pouch and then used a plastic clothespin to hold the opening wide open in a triangle so that he could get in & out easily...

Once this little guy heals, and the infection is gone he has every chance of being just fine. That takes meds, and time. I'm sure we'll get an update when there's a change to report. So far, he's improving-his main thread is here:

Yes, he is doing well. He was recently reunited with his girlfriend, so he's even better. His incision looks great, he is eating and drinking well. Thanks again to all who have asked, advised and crossed their fingers for Tork. With all thats went down this last 2 months, he and I have gotten even closer. I love that lil guy. smile
