Not too long ago I bought one of those pop up screen rooms for the gliders. They all enjoyed it and so did I. One of my little families (the ones not in a rept) have a chewer among them. His name actually happens to be Chewy. Anyway, we decided to build something a little less flimsy to use as a glider room before he chewed the whole tent up. We used 1/2" PVC pipe and connectors, plastic hardware cloth, and zip ties. The door is held shut using bungee hooks. As it stands the room consists of 4 panels connected by zip ties. It should be easy to clip a few zip ties and move. We made a roof for it, but it didn't turn out how we wanted it, so we still have a little work to do. Right now the sheet is held on with a bunch of clamps. I took the picture while the gliders are in there playing, but normally I'd be in there with them. They really seem to love this thing. They do a LOT of gliding in it. Most of the time I'm the landing strip. I have big plans for toys after we move it out of the living room and into the guest bedroom. It's a bit of an eye-sore to have it in the living room.
Wow!!! I bet your babies think that is paradice. Great job on the play area, very cool pic

GlidinForLove: I made it with plastic hardware cloth from Home Depot (around $9/roll of 3'x15), PVC pipes and fittings from Lowes, and zip ties from Walmart. You can get bungees from any of those places or the Dollar Tree, but we already had those.
My fingers were so tired of zipping zip ties by the time we were done, but it's well worth it to see the babies gliding, playing, and having a great time in it. I'll post more pics of it later when we get the roof done and attached and have more toys in it.
wow, that is big!....You should just let them have it as a permanent cage and stick a tree in there...i'm sure they will Thank you A LOT!!! =0) Good Job!

Wow! That is one awesome playroom! I'm moving in a few months and I've been planning on building something to take my gliders into too. I really like your idea because it seems sturdy but like it won't be too terribly difficult to make. If you don't mind me asking...about how much did it cost to make? and about how long do you think it took you to put together?

Wonderful! I love it. I was once thinking about trying something simular but lost my nerve, lol. I was wanting to use the pet sceen and put it over the PVC pipe, kind of like a huge reptarium, but instead of zip ties, with zippers so I could slip it off to wash. Your gliders are so lucky! Angie

It took 2 people 2 afternoons to finish. It probably would have been done sooner, but we had other things to do and we had to give our fingers a break from all of the zip ties. It cost around $75 to make. That price includes the roof that has yet to be added.
Lol...I'm sure my gliders would enjoy that being their permanent enclosure, but then I'd have to build 2 more for my other little colonies and buy a new house because there'd be no room left for me, Joel and Kolby. I can't wait to get this thing completed, moved, and decorated. We're gonna string blue or red lights up around the outside, hang vines, toys, maybe put in a tree....they're not going to want to leave it by the time we're done.
