I bought Aspen pellet bedding for the drop pan, just to keep it a little fresher. It says even if eaten it will break down to fiber and pass through the digestive track. Anyone have any input on this stuff?

It's my understanding that any bedding should be below a cage bottom so the gliders don't actually come in contact with it...Personally, I have a hard time comprehending how a tree "will break down to fiber and pass through the digestive track", but gliders are known to strip bark, I just don't know that they eat it.

I just got Aspen for my bedding too. I wanted to get that "CareFresh", I think it's called. But WOW are they ever proud of that stuff! $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$! If I remember correctly, it was like $30 for a bag the same size as a $12 bag of Aspen! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" />
I've read Aspen is safe because it doesn't have the oils like pine or cedar.

I also use aspen. It works great and it absorbs the wettness and the stink too! My gliders don't try to eat it though. I have always used it. I have used it for 4 years and I watched my gliders closely to make sure they don't eat it! They only weird thing that my gliders do is they act liek cats by taking their paws and covering up where they went to the potty! Does anyone elses?

[:"magenta"]not sure, but i would guess that many animals do that. i know my dogs try to bury their poo (although they are not very good at it.) but, my ferrets couldn't care less about burying theirs. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/nixweiss.gif" alt="" /> [/]
