When my juvie female was running around today, I put a freesia blossum up to her nose and she ATTACKED it, in a "mine mine mine" kind of way. Much more interested than she's ever been for any type of fruit or berry.

I let her nibble a little bit, but had to literally pull parts out of her clenched little fists.

Sooooooo, who's feeding flower blossums, what types are you using and what frequency?

Good idea. I know some flowers are okay for humans, so I would assume okay for gliders too. I think dandelions are one. Can't remember the rest, but several common ones that you frequently see in flower gardens. I made a salad with them one time, but I can't remember which flowers were in it.

Ooooh my kids love rose petals.
They get them a few times a year. I have a friend that grows them (and has for years) and uses no pesticides or anything at all.

Every now and then I go get a good size rose and tear just the petals off and wash them well, then blot dry... I throw them in a shallow bowl or container and watch them have a ball rolling around in them and scattering them about. Usually they only nibble little bits, mainly they rub the petals all over themselves. (guess they think it makes em smell good...Hehe! )

I dont know about other flowers, but mine have gotten chemical free rose petals for years.

I have fed mine Hibiscus once and the one that got it loved it. I have not tried the Roses yet but I guess I will have to. I can't remember all the ones either but I know I saw a list at one time.

re: "Mine love clover."

Since I found the freesia on an edible plant list, I tried a blossom. Tastes a lot like clover, just not quite as bitter.

I'm not sure which flowers are safe and which aren't (list, anyone?), but please make sure that no pesticides are used. I can't imagine successfully raising roses without some sort of pesticide. Please be careful.

I know pansies and nasturtiums are edible for humans, I don't know about gliders though.

I wish it was warm enough here to grow Hibiscus! We're suppose to have snow next week! I lived in Japan for 4 years and they were everywhere! They're the national flower over there!
