I am posting for a friend who is having a glider emergency. HIs glider is having convulsion-like symptoms, and he is lying down, and his head and tail seem to be moving in circles. He feels all wet as well, and his eyes are rolling back in his head a little.

It's 1 am where my friend is, and he doesn't have an emergency vet. Can anyone offer phone support at this hour? Does anyone know what these symptoms sound like? The glider's cagemate died yesterday I think, so this is very, very dire, and I don't know what advice to offer him.
Please help.

Where is your friend located? Any vet will do at this point. The glider seriously needs to get to a vet in order to have a fighting chance. www.gliderhealth.com has some emergency phone numbers that you may could use to get help, but the glider really needs to see a vet right away. If you give a location we may can help find a vet. I would give you my number, but I honestly don't know what I could say that could help this poor little one.

Yes, get to the closest vet you can find at this point like Sugar Moma advised. If you let us know where you are that might help also. Keep us updated, this glider sounds very very ill.

The glider sounds like he is displaying lack of calcium which is most often related to a bacterial illness. Since one glider died yesterday....my guess is that is may be a food releated illness.

Suggest Emergancy Clinic for help. Glider will need to have a Blood Culture and Sensitivity done as well as a fecal smear and float done with a cytology to determine if parasitic or bacterial problem. Put on an antibiotic now along with an oral calcium susp. Possibly sub-q injection of fluids as well as a calcium injection.

Keep glider warm...best place is down one's shirt. Handfeed the glider and keep him hydrated with fluids. Without vet care ASAP this little one may not survive.

Please keep us updated on the condition of this glider.

Need more help....post to this thread.

Thank you for your help everyone. My friend got in contact with some people from this board soon after I posted this. By then it was too late, and little Zilch passed away. He thinks it must have been bacterial. Zilch did not display any symptoms until after midnight making it hard to find a vet.
Thank you for your support.
