well, i've had Molly and Speeder now for almost a month, and starting today, Molly has been moping around her cage at the bottom and not really doing anything. I was able to coax ehr out of the cage (I didn't want to just grab her if she's feeling bad) and she just walks around a little bit on my shoulders. Well, I finally was able to get her to sit in my hand and she just has this look like she doesn't feel well at all. Her eyes are barely open and she's letting me touch her tail and normally she's very protective of her tail. I don't have any money to take her to the vet becuase I just recently lost my job and I don't know what to do.

If I loose her, I think i'll loose it myself. She's easily become my favorite little "suggie".

You might check to see if a local vet has an emergency fund for someone in your situation. Or maybe a low income vet?

Can you tell us what diet she has been on? How old is she? She sounds like she is ill, and really needs to see a vet. I am in the Dallas area, but have a friend who does rescue there, I will contact her and ask about vets in that area. You need to see if she is dehydrated, pink the shoulder area (gently), if the skin stays up she needs fluids. You can give Pedialyte 1/2 strenght mixed with water, give by eyedropper if you need to. Give some about evey 30 minutes untill the skin stays down. This may help till you can get her into a vet for sub q fluids. I know money is tight, but if she doesn't go chances are high you will loose your little girl..

Gliders cannot live healthily on a pellet or dry food diet alone. They need lots of things in their diet- fruits, veggies, and a protein source. You need to pick a proven diet from the dropdown menu at the top and stick with it. A favorite around here is BML. Many people feed Suncoast as well. This is VERY important!

How long have these gliders been on this diet? Were they on it before you had them? How long has she been exhibiting symptoms?

I agree that you need to make sure she's hydrated and get her to the vet ASAP.

I'm so sorry to hear about your loss . Just know that she's in a better place now and she is no longer sick .

You should consider changing your diet for the health of your other glider. Please check out the diets page and pick one that would work best for you.

I am so so sorry for your loss. It is extremely important to get your other glider on another diet that is better suited for gliders. I know that the pet stores sell the pellets, but they're ust out to make money.

This is a link to Judie's BMl. It is a modified version of BML. I'd post the other version, but the link isn't working for some reason. This is a wonderful proven diet.

This is a link to the Suncoast diet, another wonderful suggie diet.

These little souls can capture your heart very quickly. I'm truly sorry for your loss. She has gone to the Rainbow Bridge and will be welcomed and cared for by all of our lost babies. We all feel your pain.

I've gone back and read your previous posts. You have only had them for a few weeks and thought they were about a year old when you got them. I worry that there may be something wrong with your other glider, and he does need a vet check. Call tomorrow and see which vet in your area will be willing to help you. You need to make sure this is not something that will happen to your remaining glider. How is he acting. I know they got out a few weeks ago, but don't think anything they could have gotten into would have taken this long to harm them. If this is a diet issue, changing the remaining ones diet may help, but if it is something else, you'll need to have him checked. I am so sorry for your loss. Please keep us posted.

Thanks for all of your support everyone, it means ALOT to me.
Speeder seems to be acting like normal. He's running around his cage, hanging upside down like he loves to do and just being a active glider. I'm going to see about getting him to the vet tomorrow for a wellness check and see how he's doing.
I just don't get it, I fed them their food, put in nutrients for them, gave them fruit when I could, and they both seemed fine. Molly was acting like her normal self yesterday, so i'm just confused. I transfered Speeder into a separate cage
just incase there was something on their tube or shirt pocket from Molly that might hurt him.

This just still has be down and out. I had bonded so well with her and it just kills me so much that my baby is gone. I didn't have her long, but she will always be my baby "suggie"

I am so sorry for your loss. I know how hard it is to lose a little one. With time your heart will heal

As the others have said, I really think you should take Speeder in to get checked out by a vet. It is always better to be safe than sorry in the long run.

I'm so sorry you lost your little girl! Many of us have been where you are now. I'd also agree with a vet check for your little guy. Many vets will let you make payments if you cannot afford the whole thing up front-you might want to ask about that as an option, and make sure they run both a fecal float and smear, as well as urinalysis, weight, and physical exam. She'll be waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge.
Keep us updated on your little guy, too!

Please email me if you need anything - my email addy is in my profile. I am in Austin and have a vet and have been to an emergency vet. There a lot of glider owners from Austin here on this board you can get 'local' advice and help from.

There is no way you can prepare for the loss of a glider. For some reason, it hits harder than the loss of other types of pets. I'm sorry for your loss.
