When your glider is pregnant, do you have to restrict their play somewhat for the safety of the joeys? Like, will they pretty much be less active on their own, or will you have to stop them from jumping off the top of the curtains? Also, do you need to handle them differently, like not touch their pouch area, etc... Please advise, I don't know if she's pregnant yet but I want to make sure I'm doing everything right just in case.

My girls have always restricted themselves, but I sure can't say that ALL gliders will do that.

I have 2 moms who will let me feel her pouch, and 1 who will not... all depends on the glider. She'll let you know if she's not into it.

I've heard that the joeys can be knocked off the nipple though! Does this happen easily? Do they find it again easily? Am I being way too paranoid?

I wouldn't say it happens "easily". Not something we've had happen here, but maybe someone will come by who has seen it. My moms have always been really good about knowing their limits. But, if a joey that is not ready to be OOP were to get knocked off, it would not be able to get back on.

And don't worry about being paranoid. Everyone is with joeys, especially their first ones!

I have never had one knocked off before and I rub all my gliders bellies since I am so impatient! But out in the wild they still jump and glide from tree to tree. Mine don't really restrict themselves either, they do slow down and sleep a little more I have noticed but when they are out they are just as playful as when they don't have joeys in pouch. I'm sure it is possible to knock a joey off by rubbing the belly to hard but I wouldn't worry that much most people don't rub that hard....just real gentley

If one were knocked off, would this be a reason that Papa bear would have pulled it out & ate it?
