Ive had several sets of joeys from other colony of gliders , my first two gliders sneaker and yoda had their first set of joeys come oop few days ago .
Problem I am having is that one joey really likes to wander ! and its driving me nuts , he seems as if he is getting nurishment as he doesnt whine or cry when he is wandering - btw his eyes are still closed and his belly is still pink enough to tell that he has a white spot so he is getting milk. I found him climbing the top of the cage a few mins ago cage is about 4' tall 3' wide 2' deep.. so you can imagine my nervousness .. I put him back in with his mom and dad and no more then 3 mins later i find him crawling around on bottom of cage .. beginning to be very frustrated at this wander.. he loves to explore ! any ideas to keep his butt in there with his momma /daddy ? i have the apartment temp turned to where it gets kinda muggy in here incase he keeps getting out he dont freeze to death.

when you find him is he cold to the touch? to help your wander from falling to the botom of the cage when he decides that he is big enough to explore you can put hamics across the cage at diffrent levels up the sides and one all the way across the bottom of the cage so that if he dose fall he dosent fall far. but that is all that i can tell you you might want to im suzs and ask her what to do

have you tried to see if he will take any baby formula maybe he is just a little hungery there was someone on here thjat said that the only reason that they climb out of the pouch is either they are hungery or they are cold try giving him a little of the formula and then put him back and see who he dose then

nope havent tried baby formula yet, i believe he is being fed i took him into a brighter light source and checked his belly for a white spot and there was a tiny one.
I've had to grab him and put him back in the sleeping pouch 3 times in the course of 45 mins , he is now sleeping on top his dads head peacefully. little butthead better stay put.

I dotn have alot of experiance with joeys that is just what i have read where i have a female that has at least one ip well i checked his tummy again, and finally got ahold of the 2nd joey .. the 2nd joey is twice the size and already has one eye open and you can clearly see the milk in the 2nd joeys belly however after checking again you cannot see anything but the poor dears ribs on the wandering joey, I tried to get momma to sit still long enough while no joeys were around so I could show the smaller joey where her pouch was but she fights me so bad. this poor joey is really clumsy , just wants to sleep and doesnt have the strength to stick its head into her pouch my fiance and I held her pouch open and still no luck. I feel so bad because my fiance doesnt live with me and we both work 12 hrs a day , I am definately neutering the male of this pair soon as the healthy joey is eating on its own , I guess thru the rest of the night I'm gonna be up crying my eyes out and trying to supplement feed this little one.

Hi... I just responded to your e-mail, but I'll post the advice here, too This joey is wandering because he's hungry and searching for food. You need to start supplement feeding him Right Away! Otherwise, he will dehydrate and get weak very quickly. He needs to be fed at least every 4-6 hours around the clock by you since he's obviously not getting enough from his mother. The white spot on his belly does need to be about the size of a dime (even though he's tiny) to indicate a full belly... Please do read through my page about Hand Raising a Joey to find out how to make up the formula for him and how to go about feeding him. If you have more questions, please feel free to call me at 440-953-0904 and I'll try to help as much as possible... Again, please don't delay and start feeding him right away!

i've called every vet within 100 miles and they think I'm some kinda junky wanting a 1cc syringe even though i also specified a #5 catheter .. one vet told me that the sugarglider vet will be in 8am tommorow and i politely informed her that this little guy wont last that long . I have one vet supposedly gonna call me back cause the dr was busy and she couldnt get the OK from him to give me a catheter and syringe, My fiance is out now looking at petstores for what we need. I'm stressed to the max enough the mom and dad can tell as they are all in my lap in their sleeping pouch.

have you read suz web page about hand raising a joey that will tell you how to feed a joey.. from what i rember is that you place a dot of formula on the joeys lip and it will lick it off but ifyou can get it to eat of off your hand then you can see if you can get it to eat that way.. the easiest way to get it warm is to stick it (femal) in your bra or (male) under your shirt skin to skin contact is the best thing that i know once he warms up he will be mor likely to eat.

we've been swapping fleece blankies from microwave back and forth to where they are just warm enough u can barely feel any warmth off them . as well as under the shirt and in bra.. he ate a little bit most what he licked off my finger or the fleece blankies to where i seen a small dot on his belly but he just quit eating .

no on incubator it got too late to get the things needed. if he survives the night i intend on taking him to vet to see wether my efforts are futile or not. he has alot of spunk in him and fights me every step of the way.

I'm so sorry! I was not expecting to read this. He was such a lil scrapper. I thought he'd pull through. I'm so very sorry for your loss.
