Ok I read on the board from Zoolover that there was a glider at a store with a bad leg that needed vet atention. Well, it broke my heart to know this. I spoke with my husband and he said we just sat. got a little boy from tampa. I told him how I felt and well we were on our way to Zepherhills to get the little boy. I was in tears on the way home. His left hand was so swollen. I took him to the vet this morning and they had to take his hand. it was fractured and very infected with no skin left on it. We were very saddened by that. We think it happend with a hamster wheel. He is home tonight and is doing good. We had to take of his ecoller because he could not hold his food. He will be going to the vet every day for a shot. We decided we are keeping him. I was going to give him to a very good person but, there is noway I can give him up now. He is my little boy. We have named him Percy. I am blessed to have him with us. Now we have two boys to nueter. Mig and Percy. I would like to thank Zoolover for posting about him. I will keep everone updated about him. [ 02-27-2002, 10:20 PM: Message edited by: Kellie ]

Oh my goodness! I am so glad you got him! Normally it's not good to buy gliders from pet stores b/c it just encourages them to sell more. But in this case it was the best thing to do. Who knows how long the poor little guy would've sat there without medical attention? And most people would certainly not buy an injured glider, so he would've been there awhile. And it just would've gotten worse. Isn't there anything you can do, file some kind of complaint against the store for selling an injured animal and obviously not caring for it properly? Thank god you got him, who knows what woould've happened! [ 02-27-2002, 10:24 PM: Message edited by: Fairyprinciss ]

The pet store sold him healthy to a woman who brought him back the next day and wanted her money back. Zoolover told us on the board. I for the life of me canot find that post. I wish I could take him to work with me. But my husband has to take him to the vet each day for shots. Plus I am in and out of my truck all day. I think he will be happy. Everyone thank you. I know all of you would have done the same. I got him for 50 dollars. It was worth it.

Sometimes it is a good thing to get a glider from a pet store. You proved that point. That poor little guy must have been in a lot of pain. What luck that you saw the post & then rescued the little fellow. He will learn to adapt to his "physically challenged condition." You did a good thing.....you helped alleviate his pain & are providing a loving home.

Wow! You are truly a blessing to that little boy. I am so glad that there are people out there like you who are willing to take in an injured glider. I feel that when I have my own house that it will be full of animals that were neglected or injured. But if there is no one to take care of them, how can you just refuse to not take them home with you. You are an angel and please keep us posted with how he is doing.
