Well I kno that I post very rarely, but I do read a lot of these in here.
I had recently posted about buying my baby Jack a friend because he's getting a little older and such...

Well because of the stupidity that is me, I left the cage open upon cleaning it as I do every morning before work, and when my aunt let her cat in... Jack was out running around my room. The sweetheart never left my room even when I let him out with the door open.

The cat got ahold of him, and killed him.

My baby was just about to turn 10 years old.

RIP Jack.

I am soooooo sorry to hear of your loss. Although you hurt now in time the good memories will remain. May your heart find peace quickly.

Judge not until you have walked in their shoes and lived their lives. What you see online is only part of the story.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Jack is now playing happily at the Rainbow Bridge. As time goes by, may your sorrow be replaced with happy memories of your time with him.

It's very hard to lose a 10 year member of your family. My heart goes out to you. I'm so sorry -- I know your grief is awful. I hope the memories of Jack will lessen the pain in time.

Thanks guys. My aunt told me I should get a pair. I was going to get Jack a female friend this coming Tuesday but I don't know whether or not I want to get a new baby.
Had Jack survived the mauling of the cat, I doubt he would be able to live much longer anyway seeing as how the cat did manage to cut him a little on his underside, and the cat has Feline AIDS, as well as other illnesses. Mind you thisisn't my cat, it is my aunts.

I'm going to be moving in the next few weeks, and my new landlady, who is my surrogate mother since I moved to Florida, said I can have them. Would it be in my best interests to get a new baby, tho this time I will be looking for a pair.

Believe it or not, and you will grieve for Jack and nothing will replace him in your heart, bringing more home will help fill the hole he left behind, and they will have their own place, and make many happy memories for you as well. They won't be your Jack, but their own special little selves. And Jack will be waiting for you at the Rainbow Bridge until you get there one day-and he'll be happy to see you. And with a glider that lived to the wonderful age of 10-you are caring for them well and I think any suggie would be lucky to have such a person to love and care for them.

I had a similar experience New Year's Eve. I accidentally popped a cage door while cleaning, but didn't notice it because it didn't swing open. My baby Mo escaped when he woke up and scampered down my hall. My dog caught him before I knew what was going on.

I am still terribly upset as I am sure you are too. My thoughts are with you.

Laura

P.S. I now have cable ties on all my doors except the two that I use most often. I also got two new babies because I just couldn't bear the thought of my Splenda being alone without her Mo. While my new babies will never take Mo's place, I think that they have definitely made me feel a lot better.

I am so sorry, but just think of the good times and be glad Jack lived that long and had a good life from such a wonderful Mommy. I don't think you should give up having gliders, we need more good owners and you obviously are one. A little joey will heal your heart, and live on in Jack's memory.
