Hey guys, I am looking to build my own cage out of wood and hardware cloth. I want it to be 6'x7'x3' hxlxw. If anyone has plans or pics of something like it please let me know. I looked at the links page here, but they weren't very helpful.

Here's a link to an awesome cage gallery. The cage is made of wood and hardware cloth, and the member shows steps to building it. http://www.sugarglider.net/gallery/albun43

Note about hardware cloth. Make sure you are not using uncoated galvanized wire/hardware cloth. Galvanized wire can lead to UTIs (urinary tract infections).

Dancing, I am about to build a cage too... I searched everywhere for NON-galvanized, and I finally special ordered a 19 gauge welded steel 1/2" mesh VINYL coated (none of which was in stock at Lowe's, Home Depot, or Ace, etc). I finally found a guy at Ace in Columbus who special ordered it for me. YEAH ACE HARDWARE!!!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
I ordered a catalog from Klubertanz (sp?) and, again, all I saw was galvanized. Of course, I want the best for our babies... is it OK to use galvanized **as long as it is vinyl coated**??
Anything else is just impossible to find (and is most discouraging to a "wanna be glider architect"). Everything everywhere, at least in my market area of a one-hour's driving radius is GALVANIZED, but Home Depot DOES have vinyl coated galvanized (just as an FYI to anyone else).
I thought I was lucky in finding the vinyl coated welded steel mesh; and so, I bought five 3' x 5' rolls. However, I "thought" was not a good thing (because of the vinyl coating -- which a glider could chew off ?!?) . . . . but this is just the best wiring that I can find 'round these here parts).
HELP!!! Please tell me that I am on the right track? I saw a LOT of plastic hardware cloth, but SugarBear would EAT that...
Thanks!!

If you get the wire/mesh from menards it is much cheaper than home depot. (if either even have it)

If anyone does order from home depot please check it for breaks and such before cutting. I bought a role of vinyl coated wire to make my suggies a "jungle" and after cutting some off I realized it was quite faulty. MANY of the squares were broken leaving sharp edges everywhere and such.
