I would suggest taking him to a vet asap... gliders usally hid their illnesses and if he is acting sick then he can go down hill very fast.

It could be many things. Please take him to a vet ASAP! Any vet will do if you can't get to an Exotic vet. Please take him and let us know how he is! Prayers sent!

I agree, get him to the vet as soon as possible. Once a glider starts showing signs of illness it can be very serious. Also, keep him on you so he stays warm & give him fluids. Pedialite would be the best since it has electrolites in it, but if you don't have that juice would be the next choice. It will give him fluid as well as sugars which will boost his energy.

I have a heat rock, blankets and a female glider in his cage with him! I have called all the vets here locally and they don't now what more I can do! I have been giving him applesauce, yogert, gaterade, and pedialite also! He does not want to be covered up but he has to be cold! Have any of you seen this before or know what else I can do because the vets say if he is eating and drinking then just to keep him warm!

Take him to a vet, MAKE them see him! Don't call them, just pack him up and GO!

It is vital to the life of your little one to get him in to see a vet ASAP!
I'm sorry but there is nothing anyone can do for you on-line or over the phone that can determine what is causing it or give him the medication he needs.
The sooner you get him in the better the chances of catching whatever it is before it's too late
His health is in your hands so please do what you can to make him better.
Let us know how things went after you get back
Looking forward to hear the good news that it's something treatable

Heat rocks are dangerous for gliders. To keep a glider warm, wrap the glider in fleece and put in your shirt/bra.
Is his nose pink yet?

Don't take that answer from the vet that told you to only keep him warm if he's eating and drinking
You already said he drinks only when you encourage him
There HAS to be a cause and the cause needs to be determined by a professional right away!
I'm going to repeat what has been said already...
Once a glider starts to show signs of being sick is only because they're to weak to hide it anymore and can go down hill fast
I agree to keep him warm and get him to a vet NOW...calling in advance will get you nowhere

That's great news!
Please update us when your nanny gets back
I'm going to move this into the 'Health & Hygiene' forum now...
I'll leave a pointer for you to access it quicker from the 'Emergency' forum

White nose/gums can also indicate anemia, which suggests a possible parasite. Waiting for update.

Ok, so I met my nanny after the first vet and then went to two other vets after that! No one I found was willing to do more then a fecal check and said they did not notice anything wrong but none of them new ANYTHING about sugar gliders! They suggested to keep doing what I am doing and hope for the best! I am so fustrated at this time and don't know what more to do for him! I guess I will keep doing what we are doing and hope for the best! He is still eating and drinking necture, applesauce, pedialite, and yougert! If anyone knows a vet that is here in Lee County Florida that is willing to help I would greatly appreciate it! I have called all of them and seen three of them today! Please keep Trevor in your prayers.

Any vet should be able to do sub q fluids. This is done in felines all the time but this is a temporary fix. Can you get to a vet that is farther away?

You may have to drive some distance to get to a vet. Miami, St. Petersburg, and Dunedin are all under two hours from Punta Gorda. Maybe look through the State Roll Call for FL, you may be able to find someone near you who can help point you in the direction of a glider vet. I'm just trying to give you some options, I really hope that something works out

Nobody wants to do anything more and do something wrong! I live next to an exotic zoo so tonight I will go over there and ask her if her vet can look at him! I know she has a vet that is on call at all times!!!! He is not as lathargic as he was! PS: He is still white! That has not changed!

Darcey, can you please take a picture of him so we can see how he looks? Did he eat his food last night as normal? Is he drinking okay now or do you have to hand feed him? How old is he? What diet is he on? Do you know how much he weighs? Has he lost any weight? How long have you had him? Sorry for all the questions, hoping something might help.

Darcey, I had my hubby call you from his cell, he's on the road. I can't call from here but left you my phone number to call me. I left a message via 3 way from his phone.

Hi everyone, Thank you everyone for all your concerns and prayers! We had him at the exotic vet last night and had a fecal with floater test done on his poo and it came back as a very full wormed baby! We had only had Trevor for 26 days as of 4:52 yesterday afternoon! They gave him a dewormer and gave him a shot under the skin for dehigration even though he was not that all dehigrated beings we had been giving him pedialite every half hour from a surenge. The vet told us he would pass if we did not do this but chances are if he was that full of them he would start chocking from them being in his lungs and possibly die but atleast we can say we tried if that was to happen! He was ok for about an hour and a half and then passed! I am going to get ahold of the seller this morning and make sure the other 14 that came in with him on the airlines are ok and also see what he will do for us to get another one! We also have Tessa who was Trevors cage mate but have been together for the last 26 days! Tessa was on her own for quit some time till we got Trevor but now she seems like she is lost because she can not find him! We have a appointment for her to get tested beings they were in the same cage together! I have a question for anyone? Do sellers not have to test these little guys before getting rid of them and infecting the others that we have? Anyways, to let you all know and to add this to the post of signs and symptoms: 1) Trevor never stopped eating or drinking 2) His flesh color went directly to pale white over night like a dead persons would after passing( nose, feet, etc.) 3) Was very lathargic 4) Had a soft stool but not the runs 5) Urine was white to a pale yellow 6) Ears layed down 7) Just wanted to be held close I am glad that I was there to comfert him through this hard time but am happy he is not suffering anymore! Trevor was one of a kind and no-one can ever replace him but I am sure he would want another one to share his place in life!We go nowhere without them, the only time they are even in there cage is at night when we go to bed! He will be missed and never forgotten. Till we meet again R.I.P Trevor.

Darcey, get your little girl tested ASAP!! I also have a rescue that had roundworms and they kept coming back. I'm running out of patience and options as I'm terrified of losing her! She has been thru so much! Most likely your girl needs to get medicine too. They are contagious!! Scrub the cage, everything in it and disinfect it. Change her pouches daily and keep all her poo cleaned up. I am so sorry about your boy I've been up all night and have been between worrying and praying for him. HUGS TO YOU!! Please keep us posted! You have my number, please call if you need to or want to talk!

I am so sorry to hear about Darcey. You did all that you could to help him, and he knows that he was loved! My prayers are with you. Yes, please get your other glider in to be checked out as well. I hope that her tests will come back negative. Try and spend extra time with her for the next week or so, and keep a close eye on her behaviour. She could get stressed with worry and possibly start overgrooming, loose interest in eating etc. so it's important to give her as much attention that you can so that she doesn't feel abandoned.

Thanks, My room mate is helping out so between the two of us I don't think attention has been or ever will be a problum for Tessa or any of the others! You think it would hurt to put Tessa in another cage after she has been tested with the another gliders? She plays with all of them but at night we keep 2 in a cage!
