My glider seems to have to strain when he first gets up after sleeping all day. After he does his first poop, he seems to have an easier time of it. Wonder if there is something that I should include in his diet to help with this problem. Or what else can anyone suggest? I am taking him to the vet on Thurs. Thanks!

How old is he? If he's over six months old, you can try giving him a little bit of citrus (like some orange) to help with the consipation. I think gatorade or pedialyte may help as well.

I think he is around 6 months. I gave him some orange the past 2 nights and he does not seem very interested in it. I wonder also if he does not drink enough fluid. Will they really drink gatorade? If so, what flavor?

I usually use Glideraid. It works wonders.

What diet are you on they may help us.

I think most fruit flavors are good (don't use any of those Ice or AM flavors, just regular gatorade)

What do you offer him water in? If its a water bottle, make sure that it isn't leaking or stopped up. Also make sure that he knows how to use it.

diet would be helpful too

You can purchase glideraide from www.exoticnutrition.com
Also, you might want to try and give him some Prunes. Everyonce in awhile my two will get a little constipated so I will give them a small piece of prune, which helps. Hawiian Delight baby food is also good to give, and another great product is the Activa Yogurt. My two LOVE the stuff and it makes a huge difference in their digestive system.

What diet do you recommend? We just got Gonzo a few months ago and the diet we were given was Glidergrub which
I have heard is not the best. We almost lost him with self mutilation, but have that under control until this problem. We need to get him on a new diet soon. And get this problem under control. Am looking for advice.

You can read through these "proven" diets and make a choice from there:
Diet links
I personally use BML but others use the different diets with great success.

Thanks for all the suggestions. I will try some of them and try to find the supplements that I need for the BML diet. Appreciate everyone's help!

I use Glideraid mix 1 part to 5 parts. They love it. I only have one glider that needs it once in a while and it works GREAT>

I agree with all the suggestions above. I Would just like to add that melons help with constipation too. If ever I think that one of my babies stool is a little too hard I give them some cantelope or watermelon and it softens it right up. smile
