I had never tried "finger wrestling " with Peeps, but a few minutes ago, I just kinda put my wrist on the bed and put up my fingers like little glider paws and she did the same thing! It was so cute! Then she started going back and forth between my two hands like they were two glider playmates! She was biting a little, but whenever it got too hard or started to hurt, I just made a little "pssst" sound and she figured it out right away how much she could bite down in play and how much was too hard.
Now we have a new activity for playtime that's more interactive than just a feather teaser or me picking her up or her running around in my shirt.
Next I need to get some finger puppets!
Any other suggestions for fun playtime games?

LOL Yeah, finger wrestling is a great game!
I find with the more intelligent mammals, there are usually three games that they just naturally know the rules to:
1) Wrestling - using fingers to wrestle and compete for who can overwhelm who in a competition of strength and stealth. HOW YOU KNOW YOU'VE WON: When your animal opponent gives up and moves away from the fray of limbs and fingers
2) TAG - running your hand directly infront of the animal and quickly dragging it across the floor as the animal chases after your hand. Once tackled, the hand becomes "IT" and must then chase the animal. HOW YOU KNOW YOU'VE WON: There is never a winner in this rather redundant game, but instead simply goes on and on until you or the animal gives up.
3) PIN DOWN - much like finger wrestling only much more ruff-housing! While not hurting the animal, it's a competition of strength and stamina as the animal and your hand attempt to flip eachother over on its back and take a playful "bite" (simply holding a flap of skin between your fingers but not pinching down hard on it) down at the neck, stomach, or armpit of the animal (or getting a bite back from the animal)! ATTENTION: DO NOT ATTEMPT THIS GAME UNTIL YOUR GLIDER IS FULLY-BONDED AND PERCEIVES YOU AS A SAFE BEING TO PLAY WITH! HOW YOU KNOW YOU'VE WON: When your animal opponent is flipped over on its back and lays limp accepting your bites (i.e. letting you pinch its skin LIGHTLY, LIGHTLY, LIGHTLY) BUT BEWARE OF FAKERS! MORE OFTEN ENOUGH A SNEAKY ANIMAL WILL JUMP RIGHT BACK UP WHEN YOU'RE NOT READY AND YOU'VE LET YOUR GUARD DOWN, AND PIN YOU DOWN LIKE A SUCKER!
I feel these are the three universal mammal games. In my experience a number of animals including rats, ferrets, rabbits, and yes sugar gliders know how to play these games and love playing these games. They are games that they play in the wild, so it wouldn't be surprising that they would know the rules naturally; however be prepared for more biting (playful, and often hard biting especially in game #3)! I ensure to allow the animals to win every now and then just to boost their ego, making sure that they don't win all the time, lest they start getting all ALPHA on me! LOL... It's also a way to let your glider know who's higher in rank in the social hierarchy of your glider pack (i.e. ALPHA = you) without having to use disciplinal or hurtful methods. Just make sure you win more often than not... but if you simply keep losing then, well, guess you're just going to have to settle for being dominated by your powerful animal! They're more sensitive than dogs or ferrets, so playing these games is a great alternative to yelling or negative reinforcement!

My guy likes to play peek a boo. I get somewhere where he cannot see me, like if he's on the bed, I duck down out of his view. Then I pop my head up every few seconds. When I pop up he dashes for a hiding spot, but he slowly gets closer each time. Within a few times he is close enough to attack (or cuddle sometimes) by running up to my face and barking. Then he runs back over to the other side of the bed and we start again. This is one of his favorite games.

Our Gimli LOVES to finger wrestle-especially with my husband. And Karin at Glider Daydreams has some AWESOME finger puppets, called Pouch Buddies . Here's the link: Glider Daydreams Toys We have the Lion and the Elephant. She also has a monkey, panda, and tiger. It's the second one on the toys page. Awesome pouches, too!

i am hoping me amd my glider discoverd peekaboo last night, i felt really bad b/c i had to work so late 9-9 so when i got home of course first thing i did was feed him his BML and a meal worm followed up with licky treats, after awhile he ran up on my back like normal, then he jumped to my bed and on my golf bag, fearing he would go behind my dresser i went to get him, i though humm lets play so i jumped on my bed and peared around the bag as he did the same and when he saw me lol it was like he went AHHHH and he ducked behind the bag again. I would duck to ...then in about 5 sec or so we would be curious and look for me , as soon as we seen each other we both hide again, lol it was pretty cool. Anyway thought i would share.

Josc has discovered that if he lies in my hood for a long enough period of time, I'll think he's asleep. Then he likes to play 'peek a boo' with all the people behind me. *laughs*

I am so glad to hear that you have been able to get a new idea from my post Pyrator. My guy just loves this game. I am laughing so hard just thinking about the looks some of you must get when your suggies play peekaboo with strangers. You should have seen the looks I got yesterday when my new girls didn't like being moved around while I was paying the Restaurant bill . Man can they crab loud. (The sign said no pets, but what was I to do? It was only 20 degrees outside and we were two hours from home. Besides they were quiet right up till the time I left .)

LOL I was in a gas station yesterday and my girl crabbed when I jostled her too much. I looked down and said "Shhh" to her and she quit. I looked up and this guy was giving me the strangest look for talking to my chest! LOL
