I am not sure what went wrong.
We clipped a little too much off of one of her nails and she started to bleed. It took a while but we got the bleeding stopped. Later, she seemed to be ok, weak but ok. She took some licks of the leadbeater and eat a piece of corn and a bite of carrot and melon. Then the next morning she took applesauce from our fingers. and a few drops of water she licked off. However, she was walking very very slowly. she kept holding the foot that we trimed the nail too close. When we picked her up she just lick us and not really go anywhere. Everytime I checked on her she was a different place in the cage today. Then about seven tonight I took her out, I realize she wasn't going to get anybetter. She took a little water mixed with honey, but she was already on her way out. I guess if I would have taken her to the vet, as soon as she had clipped a bit too much she might of made it.

Oh, I am so sorry. I really didn't think this was going to be the outcome, that she would rebound after a day or so. My deepest condolences to you --

Miriam, I am sooooo soooo sorry. Candi I know was loved by all.

I still remember the day you came to take her home. From there the posts here on GC. To when Candi and Gizmo started their own little family. Candi with baby in pouch to baby out of pouch, till baby was named Snickers and when he was weaned. Candi for some reason has come full circle in this life. But she has left behind many, many good memories.

Candi will indeed be missed.

I am very sorry to hear about Candi. The fact she came down sick and the clipping of the nail may not be related but only coincidnetal. Are you having a necropsy done to find out why? Sometime it helps to just know why? Gliders like birds hide illness very well. Again I am very sorry for your loss. Cuddle your other glider and take comfort in each other. He will need you very much in the coming days.

I have to agree with Ark Mom.
Darcy's vet deliberately clipped one of his hind toenails WAY back (she needed more blood than she was able to get with a syringe, to do the blood test) and he had no problem whatsoever. He licked it a bit when he came out of the anesthetic and then forgot about it.
It sounds to me like there was something else going on that Candi was hiding (as gliders do), and your accidentally clipping the nail too short was sheer coincidence, NOT the cause of your beloved girl's demise.
