Last Friday I had to undergo surgery to remove my right ovary. It was an out-patient surgery, so I've been home every night, and I've always made sure my babies have food and water and everything, and I gave their cage a solid cleaning before I went into the hospital, but I'm still worried. I'm barely able to stand upright, and I can't really let them out because I don't have the energy to chase them. I live alone, so there's no one else really to do anything. I can hear them playing at night, and they seem to be eating, but I'm still worried. Just now I hobbled over to change their bedding in the bottom of the cage, and they both came out of their pouch and stared at me. I gave them a treat and petted them, but this is an unusual hour for them to be up. Are my babies alright not having play time for a few days??

I'm sure they will be fine. Gliders are pretty intune, they most likely know you aren't feeling very good and I'm sure they will forgive you. I've had my glider Brodey for 3 years now and the only time in those 3 years that he slept in my pocket was when I had mono. He wouldn't leave my side. He didn't play, he didn't run around, or anything, he just stuck with me. He knew I didn't feel good and he understood that I couldn't go chasing him, so he just didn't run around...

I'm sure they will be fine. You need to take care of yourself and once you are feeling better you can spoil them a little extra to make up for it.

I think they'll come through it okay. I'll tell you what, though. I had Riker out to play a couple days after my hysterectomy last April, and he did something he hasn't done before, or since. I was laying on the bed, and letting him run around the glider proofed room. He not only decided he didn't want to play that night, but curled up right on my abdomen and stayed there until it was time to go back in the cage.(Normally, he only wants to be around my neck or down my shirt to just "hang out"-never exposed like that.) They do know when something isn't right, and might have just come out at an odd time to say-"Hey, mom. We know you don't feel good and just want to say Hi". They may be a bit more excited and active than usual when they DO get out though! Probably would want to confine the first one to a tent if you're still not quite up to par. Hope this helps.
