well last night i went home after work, my routine is i come in and go staight to the cage, the girls sleep in a huge pouch that hangs from the ceiling of their cage. well anyway everyday i take them out and love on them as soon as i get home. yesterday everyone seemed weird especially when i put my hand in the pouch all 3 of them started to crab (which is really unusual especially for cher). so i sit down and open the pouch so i can see whats going on i,m thinking cher's joey has finally come out and everyone is ready to chew my arm off if touch him, so i very slowly move everyone aroung and there at the very bottom is the joey, his mommy was wraped around him, but i noticed he didn't look all that good so i made the other two girls get out of the pouch and into my shirt so i could look at him better, i think there was something wrong with him he was so small but the beautiful pink color i have been seeing on him when he sticks his legs and tail out were gone. my husband thinks he died ip and cher took him out, i had to coax her to let me have him. the poor baby, i don't think we're going to let anyone have anymore babies, i don't think this is something i can handle again. and all three of my ladies are acting weird now i had to hold them for about 3 hours just to get them settled down, usually i get them out and they get in my shirt/bra and go to sleep, last night they ran around in my shirt for hours. i hope they'll be ok, i would expect this from mom, but the other two are just as weird. well thanks for everones advise and help. maybe there was something wrong with the joey thats why he died, i hope it's nothing we did or didn't do. i made sure their diet was right i made sure they got extra protein, and calcium, i always make sure their house is clean, i kept the stress level as low as possible, i just don't know, but it's a horrible feeling.

I am really sorry for your loss. That is so sad that the mom wouldn't let the baby go. I'm sorry you had to go through that.

I am so sorry for all of you. I wanted to say that I think it is normal for all the gliders to feel the loss. I know that in my colony, ALL of the gliders protect and fuss and worry over my joey Nickolas. They are all one big family. I imagine it is the same for your group.

I am so sorry for your loss. Thank you for posting your incident. It opens many of our eyes, and brings us back to reality. Some times things happen for reasons, reasons we wish we could explain. I hope your girls will be back to normal. thanks again

thank you, they seem allot better, cher is still a little weird, but i think she will be fine, the vet says everyone is healthy and that they will feel better soon. it's hard watching your babies feel bad about something they cant control. we've been giving them extra treats and allot of extra love. don't worry my ladies will be ok, they just need a extra hugs and kisses.
