This morning when I went to get the gliders ready to go to work with me, PMS just looked up at me from her cage pouch. Sometimes if she doesn't seem interested, I'll leave her there. I'm glad I didn't this morning! I made the pouch myself, and it's got a fleece drawstring. Because the fleece was so thick, and the way it was made, I couldn't see how it would be dangerous at all. Every night when they go to bed, they put their blankies up like a door to the top of the pouch, and they also pull that drawstring in with them. Well, when I tried to get her out this morning, it turned out that she had somehow gone through the loop and twisted around, so the loop was wrapped around her midsection and twisted. She started panicking and trying to crawl up my arm, and it was making it squeeze her tighter - I'm so glad that my response to situations like that isn't to panic, because she would have broken her leg, I think. I managed to pull her off my arm and untwist her and get her out. It sure scared me though! I will be removing that drawstring before they go back in that pouch. I didn't like the drawstring anyway, so I won't make anymore with one. But I've seen several for sale with a drawstring that were billed as a dual pouch - for cage & bonding, so I hope that no one uses one in their cage.

I use one, but I always make sure that if its in the cage with them that its opened all the way so that there isnt any extra drawstring hanging anywhere. But other than that, that would be scary. Im still getting used to them getting out of their cages lol.

Oh my... that's not good <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/ohwell.gif" alt="" />... I recommend ONLY using cage pouches that are open at the top with two "lanyard clips" to clip to the cage. They are the best kind. I have pouches from Glider Daydreams as well as Sweet & Sour Sugar Gliders and they are as safe as can be. A cage pouch with a drawstring can pose too mant threats, in my eyes. But nonetheless, I'm glad she's okay and you must be so relieved! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hug2.gif" alt="" /> Oh! Another thing I've seen lately is people using Chinchilla houses. (The plastic house they take dust baths in.) I actually think they are a good idea. You could line it with fleece and fill it with fleece blankets. Nothing to get caught in and would probably stay very cozy.

Oh my!!! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/shocked.gif" alt="" /> I'm so glad your suggie is OK! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/hug2.gif" alt="" /> I have often worried about this so what I do is tie the string on the outside of the cage to the bars so not only is it tight where it won't fall down with her in it, but also she cant pull the string inside the cage if it is tied to the bars from the outside. I have started prefering bra type pouches with zippers and clips ( to the bra or the cage). They seem to work alot better for me than those floppy bonding pouches ( but then again, I have only one glider! <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/tongue.gif" alt="" />) Hope this helps a little!!!

WOW, YOUR LUCKY YOU DOUBLE CHECKED. I HAVE A HUGE POUCH IN THE GIRLS CAGE, IT HAS 4 CLIPS THAT CLIP ONTO THE CAGE AND THE CENTER IS OPEN SO THEY CAN GET IN AND OUT WITH A FLEESE LINING. THEY LOVE IT AND IT IS MUCH SAFER THAN THE DRAW STING, THEIR bonding pouches HAVE DRAW STRING THOUGH, BUT I ONLY PUT THEM IN THERE WHEN WE ARE GOING SOME WHERE. I'M GLAD YOUR BABY IS OK, THAT WAS A REALLY CLOSE CALL. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/muchlove.gif" alt="" />
