No, she doesn't sell them herself. She came up with this idea and shared it with everyone so they could PERSONALLY benefit from her idea... not so they could sell them and make a profit. Kind of like Candice's pouch tutorial- she asked on the tutorial that people don't use her design to make a profit. Not only is it stated on there, but it's common courtesy .

I'm not picking sides, either... just sharing how I feel and putting in my two cents . This certainly isn't a matter of pointing fingers and/or picking sides. Just sharing how we feel

I think a few of you owe Kayla a huge apology. She was only trying to help others that possibly live in a rural area, or don't have the means to make the 'holes', or for ppl who just want to order online for their various reasons. To come on here and 'BASH' her to the outer limits is wrong. If some of you felt so strongly against what she was doing why didn't you give her the courtesy of PM'ing her instead. This is a true case of verbal abuse and this must be stopped.
Once again we see the same thing happening all over again. This is the type of posts that deter the good ppl from posting here. This is a true shame and I am ashamed of many of you.
I am so sorry Kayla you were treated so terribly.
Have we all forgotten what we are all here for?? HELLO reminder as if we need one . For The Good Of The Glider.
Now go and do what is right. This certainly sounds like bashing to me. A little side note Perhaps this community is TOO tightly knit. That has crossed many minds. Subject closed.

Kayla has apologized personally to Hope and to GC as a community. Whatever she decides to do with her extra products is completely up to her; no one here should be able to tell her what to do with her extra supplies for the Glider Kitchens. If you think Kayla should not be selling them at all and that it is absolutely wrong, then don't buy from her. If you think there was no harm done, love her stuff, and your interested in the Glider Kitchen, then continue to support her with your business/purchases. It’s really just that simple.

To answer your question, I recently had a pouch idea stolen, and yes Kayla, some simple pouches are re-created all the time, who knows who came up with the idea. But the Sissy Pouch (like the Pillow Pouch of Karin’s) is different than the rest. I created the pattern, tried it several different way, thought of the straps, it’s completely 100% my baby. LOL. It took me many months to get it just they way I wanted it, and honestly, I am proud of it. I have to say, my feelings were hurt that one of my customers, a person I had met and sold a Sissy Pouch to, would do this to me . Then I was mad . But that passed. I understand this is the way it goes sometimes, and I really don’t think she meant to hurt my feelings, she just wasn’t thinking. I just have to hope my customers will stick with me. And is the reason I changed my signature on GC. But it does happen to pouch makers as well as toy makers. And we are tight community, but after all these years, it’s hard not to be tight.

With all that said, this post is getting out of hand, and is no longer about the Glider Kitchen. I think it was a great original idea of Hope’s and is getting some bad press here. Lets try and keep this on topic to what was posted.

Whooooa...
I hate to see people upset. I hate being upset... but it really does bother me when others are.
I was going to post my PM to Kayla, just because I didnt want anyone to think I was rude to Kayla or trying to be mean in any way (I hope it didnt sound that way to Miss Kayla in any way). I even complimented her on her products, cause she really has some neat products on there.

I know that people come up with ideas or make things and you really cant stop others from making the same thing, I would be a fool to think otherwise... I think it just upset me that my idea was taken, and called the same thing, and the credit for the idea was given to others. It would be kind of like me taking Kaylas awesome glider gyms thingys (which are really cool by the way) and making them and calling them the same thing and selling them. I dont know how she would feel about it, I would think shed maybe be upset with me.
The Glider Kitchens (as well as anything else Ive shared here over the years), I share out of love for the little ones. I figure if someone can make something themselves and it costs them less, or can be made the way they want something, or whatever, hey more for our little ones.
When I made the Glider Kitchen, I thought it out and tested it out etc, before even saying anything about it. I had talked about selling them in a package type thing to other members, whenever I make up stuff for my 'kids' (as I always seem to make extra stuff, more than they need).... I end up giving the stuff away though.
I dont want anyone to think Im rude or mean or anything like that... I dont mind people using my ideas for personal use at all, thats why I share.
I know Kayla wasnt trying to hurt my feelings, or wasnt trying to get rich quick off of a silly idea...
I think I have just been a bit upset here lately with others selling others original ideas/products. Its happened to me 3 times in the last couple months (as well as others here that make and sell products). Which dont get me wrong, I know theres not alot that can be done about it, but still it can be a little frustrating.

Kayla, I appreciate you apologizing. Thank you.
Im sorry too if I have sounded rude or anything... was not intended if it did in any way.
I have to admit, it did hurt my feelings a bit... but I know it wasnt intentional.

As to the original post...
"I have seen several references to a "glider kitchen". What is it?? Do you have a picture?"

You can make them, or buy one from Kayla. (links above)

That was very kind of you, BMX girl. As glider caretakers we are all trying to come up with interesting ideas to make life a little easier on both our gliders and ourselves. It is not uncommon for more than one person to come up with similiar ideas. I also do not believe Kayla meant anything by this. I mean come on as a crafter myself how much profit can really be made. I used to be in the retail and mail order business and ppl have strange reasons for ordering similiar things from different ppl. I believe it was I who even brought your 'glider kitchen' from out of the archives. Mary Ellen had told me about it back in Oct. It is a great idea and even though I prefer the Cake holder so I can see through it and has the handle and sturdy base Kayla's are quite different. There couldn't be much of a profit. A dollar or two at most.
There have been many other 'copycats' on this forum and I never saw them be reprimanded for their copies. This is so petty to even be wasting time on. EOD (end of discussion).

I will also throw my two cents in and say I was very relieved that there was a place I could buy one of these, as I don't have the equipment to make one on my own. I've been checking friends to see if anyone could do this, and then I saw Kayla's version. Joy! I did notice that she credited GC ... I don't understand why some think she should have changed the name. To me, this would have seemed more like she was trying to steal the concept.

If anything there seems to be an oversight on her part (though I will point out that I haven't been around here for very long, and don't know anybody). Maybe she could contact the creator and arrange to pay a small royalty, as well as giving credit, or if the creator said to stop making them (in which case maybe she should rush out and get a copyright, as no doubt others will follow because this is such an effective creation), that should be enough. But I think it's between the two of them at this point. All that matters is what the original designer thinks, and there should be a way to work this out equitably without engaging the rancor of the members.

Peggy, Im just wondering...where did you get the idea for your glider buffet station?

I think this thread got way out of hand, from some missunderstandings. I havent seen Kaylas glider kitchens, I too think she should change the name, as to be a 'little' different, but as I read, I suppose they are already a little different than the original idea. I just want to applaud you kayla for continuing on selling this product, as it is extremely beneficial for those who arent too crafty, or dont have the time to make something like this.

JenJen just to please your curiosity, I simple got MY ORIGINAL idea from walking through Walmart craft wood section and picked up a Shelf, asked Bob if he could put some holes in it to put some dishes in it so I could stop using lanyard clips to hold the dishes I feed mine with to the shelves....other wise they throw their dishes on the floor of the cage.
I know this may be a new concept but I DO come up with original ideas on my own as well as from my customers.

How many people have you read about on here that have problems with their gliders tossing their dishes off shelves? And I have the same problem and I dont use the kitchens mainly because I enjoy watching my gliders while they eat....so what a better answer to problems!!
Yep my OWN ORIGINAL IDEA!

Back on topic, I read the original post along with this one and the pictures do help. I can use a smaller box as long as the food dishes and the glider fit inside right?

If everything fits inside comfortably (including furry kid ), then sure I dont see why not.
