Well, this was a while ago actually like a month or month and 1/2 ago, but I thought I would post it anyway. I bought a breeding pair - the lady thought they may be pregnant and they were as I found out. So of course - I am trying to bond so the day after I get them I am playing with them in my room - after getting them out. Jynx jumps on the glider tree and she starts acting funny. She started grooming herself and making a path from her anal area to her pouch. Meanwhile, I ignore and Jasper is playing on me. I walk around curious and see that Jynx is sitting up strait and somthing pink was moving and coming out of her anal area. At first I was like omg, shes got somthing wrong with her and then I realized that it must be a baby from what I had read they looked like - my other pair had babies oop but i didnt see her give birth. So I left her alone. I didnt touch her or anything. All of the sudden, with a baby hanging on her abdomen somthing spooks her and she jumbs down to the floor, the baby is still on and she runs under my bed. I didnt want to touch her so I just watched her under there. I thought "wait a sec, this is amazing, I will go tell dad that shes giving birth because I probably will only see this once" so I run downstairs and say dad shes giving birth which makes him come upstairs and start watching - meanwhile jasper thinks i am so stupid for just forgetting that he is hanging there on my arm and then i am like Jasper your a daddy and I put him back in the pouch - of course he stayed out and watched from inside the cage. Dad cant see anything and when he gets up to go downstairs Jynx jumps and runs out from under the bed. Dad goes down and I noticed that Jynx left her baby sitting in the floor under my bed! So I get under my bed without hope balling my eyes out. I pick up the baby who is like covered in dust (not that bad, but still). Then I start trying to get it back to mommy. So, mommy has her next baby and running away from me with her 1st. Ugh I was so and aggrivated. I was verry worried. I stopped chasing her and this next baby is going the wrong way! It is hanging on her tail. I just catch her real quick and put her ack in the cage so nothing else would happen while I had no hjope and didnt want to mess with it so i told dad to get rid of the baby i had in my hands (1st). So she is back in her cage with the 2nd baby hanging on her tail and I notice that omg - a third is coming out. So Jasper is like yay - Jynx is back and starts smelling her and he accidently knocks the baby off of her tail and it falls through the wire bottom in cage and into the aspen bedding. Now - I am still crying and they finally go back inside the box with 3rd baby hanging on abdomen. Well, Here it is 1 month later and her pouch is flatter that a pancake.I feel so horrible - I should have never got them out or tried to get her or got involved or anything. It is all my fault. This is so amazing because she was stressed from new home, 1st babies, had 3, and I was witnessing it. This is all my fault. I feel horrible still. My other pair has babies and they are always very healthy and beautiful . Jynx didnt seemed like she cared or was at all interested in her babies either. Please help me to get over this!!!

Awwww don't beat yourself up! You didn't know she was going to give birth while you had her out! Don't take this the wrong way, but there's a chance the babies wouldn't have survived since they were just moved into a new enviroment too. I am so sorry for your loss, it must have been horrible to have to witness something like that. Joeys are so fragile when they are first born and there's nothing us humans can really do except hope the parents can take care of them. I'm sure by the time they have their next litter of joeys they will be more adjusted to you and their new home.

I am so sorry for your loss. I have always wanted to see a mother give birth, but I also was afraid that the same would happen to me. Hopefully, all will go great with the next litter.

Thanks you 2. I hope they have another litter before I sell them. I havnt seen them even breed yet. I am selling them becuase with 2 males I cant give as much attention as I want to to my gliders. They spray and they arnt breeding. I am much more attatched to my 1st pair - my trio after I put Maggie in. If anybody is interested in them let me know becuase I think they will have babies after they are away from my other male (he is more dominent, Moochie). I am including a cage and accessories for best offer I get. They are helthy and everything. And they are tame. go to www.expage.com/glidinaroundgliders

I want to say that witness a glider give birth is really rare, but what is even rarer is to see one giving birth to triplets, only 1% of gliders have triplets. I held Ushuaia in my hands while she gave birth to twins. I got a few pictures but no clear shots of her babies. It was a great honor. They all survieved to be weaned but the female, Sugar died from bedding poisioning (I believe). The babies probably would have died. The mother was not bonded to you and so the change of enviorment would probably have caused her so much stress that she would reabsorb them back into her. So do not be too hard on yourself.

Babies that die are only reasorbed when in the uterus. Sugar gliders...once they give birth...babies drop into Mom's pouch. No way for baby to be reasorbed into mom's body...unless she eats it.
