Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.
When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge. There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.
They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Author unknown...

To all the Ross Gliders young and old that allowed us to share their life with them.
We miss each and every one of you.
Mom and Dad

Ellen,
I liked that very much. Have you seen the poem on Chins 'N' Quills, in the Chin Forum? That one will make anyone cry their hearts out. If not, then I will try and post it tomorrow after work.

Ellen,
From time to time I go to the Rainbow Bridge site and just randomly visit some of the pets people have placed there.

It is wonderful to see so many animals of all different kinds that were so loved and are so missed by their owners.

I truly believe that this poem is true, and will be so glad to see all the animals that I have lost over the years.

I can just imagine all the kisses, hugs and rubs we will get.

It will be wonderful.

Tom, I lost 2 Joeys. One Firday and the little girl last night. They were only 2 weeks oop. They were Patrick and Windy's grand children.

Guess just thinking about July4 and all that happened over the next couple of months, this has just hit me harder than I thought it would.
It has never gotten easier. It never will.
Thanks for asking. You are a dear and I love you.

Ellen and Bruce,
Your gliders are so lucky to have wonderful parents as you. I know this is a difficult time of year, but think about all the glider lives that you have helped save bringing the aflatoxin issue to light. You, through your hard work, dedication and continued research, have touched the lives of many many gliders, not only those you have shared your home with. Thank you.

Ellen, my heart hurts to hear about Windy. You had high hopes for these joeys, and on top of losing Brie and the anniversary of the aflatoxin losses in your household, I can only imagine your grief today. I hurt with you, my friend, and hope you know that there isn't a more conscientious glider mom anywhere.

Ellen, I'm so sorry to hear about your joeys. I can't imagine how terrible this time of year must be with the memories. Thank you for continuing to make the glider community aware of alfatoxins even though it must be painful to do so. <img border="0" alt="glider" title="" src="graemlins/littleglider.gif" /> hugs to you all and many hopes for better days ahead...

I couldnt find the post on Cills n Quills. Could you tell me where to find it? I have never been to that board. Thanks.

We want to thank every one that has responded.

We felt like we needed and wanted to honor our brave little ones that fought to the end. This is our way of saying we love you and miss you.

I knew I couldnt post this on July 4, as that was the first day of such enormous pain that has lingered for a year now. Each day I wake up and go to sleep not knowing what will be.

As I told Lucy, If I didn't believe in God I don't know how this year would have been for me.

IF WE can help save one Glider then it will help.

Again thank ALL of you. You will not be forgotten.

Glider Love,
Ellen and Bruce

Here is the Post she was talking about.Memories...

He rubbed her forehead gently, there was nothing else to do.
"I know it's hard," he said to us, "But it is up to you.
I've seen it many times before, and I ran all the tests.
The only thing that I can say is that it's for the best."

Our hearts were breaking at that moment, how were we to know,
The pain would make us this intense because we loved her so.
My children cried to think of her not ever going home,
But it was a decision that I had to make alone.

Our lives would never be the same without her being there,
My little one was crying and kept saying, "It's not fair."
My older ones were trying, to hold back their pain and tears.
But what I had to do and say had been one of my greatest fears.

The doctor was patient for my answer, as I hesitated,
He even looked as if he felt the pain there as he waited.
It's never easy when you have to make this kind of choice,
But I began to speak to him while choking on my voice.

"As far as doctors go," I said, "I have such faith in you.
I know that what you're saying is so absolutely true.
I know that you love all your patients and you really care,
Whenever we have needed help you've always been right there.

"But as you know it hurts so much, and we love her so.
We always knew a time would come when she would have to go.
She always showed her overwhelming love to all of us,
And in return, loved our attention whenever we made a fuss.

"I know that as a doctor you have done all that you can,
And I know the pain we feel you more than understand.
I have seen it in the past and always it's the same,
You care about your patients and really feel their pain."

So there upon the linen sheet I gazed into her eyes,
I could tell she was in pain -- more than I realized.
She looked at me so pitifully. She seemed to really know.
I could almost feel her say, "I really need to go."

Some people will not understand how tragic this can be,
And some will never understand the pain that's now in me.
Many cannot comprehend how this can make you weep,
Unless you've had to tell your "vet" to put your pet to sleep.

-- James "PoppyK" Kisner
