I've been trying to introduce Precious(female) in with Chip(female) and Dale(nuetered male) for a while. I'm at a point where I don't know what to do. I switched their pouches for a while then I introduced Dale in with Precious (in the bathtub with a blanket in the bottom). They hit it off and really like each other. I let them stay together for about three days with Chip in a separate cage (right next to the other). I tried to introduce Chip in with Dale and Precious. Not a success. I let Chip stay with Dale for a couple days (she was sad from being apart). Then I put Precious back in w/ him for a few more days. I put vanilla on both Chip and Precious and introduced them. Hooray! they get along. I let them get to know each other for a while. While I was watching them Precious grabbed Chip and was rubbing her head all over her stomach (pretty normal), Chip tried to move away after a little while and Precious grabbed at her. Glider fight and separation. So they got along for about half an hour. I now alternate the females in and out with Dale (he loves his ladies!). I let Chip crawl on the outside of the cage when Dale and Precious are together and there's been an occasional crab, but not too much. It seems like Chip is the aggressor because Chip grabs for Precious and trys to bite and Precious crabs because she is scared. I haven't seen this for a while because I've been scared to reintroduce them. No one has been hurt yet and I'd like to keep it that way. Is there any hope that they'll get along? I have been switching their pouches and every time they still run around and mark the pouches like mad. What was Precious doing when she was rubbing her head furiously on Chip? I really need some advice on this one. I would love for all three of them to get along together. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/worried2.gif" alt="" />

Sorry, I have never tried a trio, so I am no help. I just wanted to ask their ages and how long had your first pair been together before you tried to introduce a third party. Sound like your having to go through an awful lot of work, switching pouches and cages every few days. I am leaving here in a minute, but I know someone with pointers will come along. Just wanted to know their ages, as that will make a big difference in how long it takes and if it can be done. Good luck to you.

They are all over two years. Not exactly sure because I did not get them when they were joeys and the people before me were not sure. The first two had been together for about six to seven months before Precious. Chip didn't really care for Dale to begin with either. Not this bad though. She'd just constantly go to a separate pouch and he'd follow.

I was thinking of maybe carrying around Chip and Precious in one of those bonding pouches with a divider. Dale loves them both and goes and talks with whatever female is in the separate cage. I've really been hoping they'd get along.

Chip's trying to assert dominance over Precious by marking her (the grabbing and rubbing) and Precious is just saying "wait a minute!" when she crabs. It's pretty normal to have a bit of crabbing when first introducing 2 new gliders. I think your best bet would be to put Precious and Chip together for about a week. Chip will get lonely in that time and become a little less dominant. After a week, place them all in a freshly cleaned cage with 2 or 3 pouches. There may be a bit of bickering, but that's normal. Keep an eye on them for a day or two and if you notice any excessive fighting (them curling up in a ball and rolling around for more than a few seconds), seperate them until they calm down and try again. Within a few days they should be getting along fine...

The last time they fought they balled up (it was really scary) right after Chip was done with Precious' rubbing. Do you mean to put Dale and Precious together and have Chip in a separate cage for a week (because Chip will get lonely)? Should I put the cage away from the other two so she can't see them? The whole process I mentioned above has been going on for about a month. How much bickering is normal between gliders? When Chip was grabbing and biting at Precious (and she was crabbing) they weren't balled up, but I separated them because Precious seemed really scared and the biting looked like it hurt, but didn't leave any wound. Should I only separate if they ball up? This is the first time I've had problems with an introduction so its been kind of hard for me. Thanks for the advice, keep it coming.

Yes, seperate Chip. Keep her far enough away that she feels left out. In regards to the biting, that ones up to you. My opinon on it is if it was really hurting her, she would do something about it, though...

I will put Chip in my bedroom for a week. She's been getting extra attention from me, but whenever she runs around she goes staight for the cage with the other two in it. Should I introduce Chip to Precious and Dale or should I just introduce her to Precious in a week?

Good luck, I did put two male and one female all together, but it took about a month, and you may never be able to put them all together. It is up to the glider. You never know.
