I have a few questions about glider genetics and dominant genes. Would any of you more educated glider gurus please help me out? lol Maybe via AOL IMing or even over the phone? Please PM me if you can help me out.

Thanks so much!

why don't you ask the question and we all can help out. I know some about genetics, but wouldn't call my self a guru because I am still learning every day.

I am wanting to know which genes are dominant in gliders... I know it would depend on which pairings... hence the need for conversation? I think? I know there are an endless number of pairings....

I am trying to confirm the lineage of a glider but don't want to air it to the world... so I was hoping to be a bit discrete... lol

I dont know what it stands for, but it means they carry that gene...

Like a 66% het...will have that much of a chance as producing that certain color...i think...lol

Het is short for heterozygos (gee I hope I spelled that right). Anyway, it means that the glider carries the gene for that particular trait but they do not express the trait themselves. Such as a 100% leu het means there is a 100% chance that the glider carries the leucistic gene but the glider itself most likely just looks like a grey glider. 66% leu Het means there is a 66% chance they carry the gene. If a 66% is paired with another leu het and they produce a leu baby, then both parents become 100% proven hets. (since both parents must carry the leu gene to produce white babies)

Judge not until you have walked in their shoes and lived their lives. What you see online is only part of the story.
