Okay, I know this has been discussed, but I can't seem to find a post that answers my question exactly.

I've had Peepers since September '04 and she is very strongly bonded to me, and never really crabbed to begin with. I just got Jeepers (another female) last Sunday, and she and Peeps hit it off like long lost twin sisters or something. I actually was able to easily skip all the introduction techniques I expected to have to use because the minute they got together, they started grooming each other, sharing pouches, etc.

Now Jeepers is crabby in the pouch. She generally crabs loudly for 10-20 seconds whenever I reach towards her when she's in the pouch or my bra, then will stop even if I leave my hand in with her and scratch her. Also, sometimes she strikes at me when I first reach toward her, but it doesn't hurt because she doesn't really latch on. She readily takes licky treats from me, and has even stepped on my hand with just her front feet when she was loose on top of her cage and I was reaching up above my head to offer her my hand (with yogurt strategically positioned where she had to step on to reach it).

So here's my question (I know, finally! ). Should I carry Jeepers around some of the time without Peepers so she'll bond with me, and get more used to me without the security of another glider, or should I just let them both hang out in my bra or pouch together all the time? In other words, will Jeeps eventually bond to me as closely even if Peeps is always around?

I personally think having Peepers around will help Jeepers bond as she will have a role model. She will see that Peepers trust you. Down the road a bit, I would maybe take just one at a time just so they are used to it.

Judge not until you have walked in their shoes and lived their lives. What you see online is only part of the story.

I would offer some alone time with Jeepers. She needs a chance to get to know you herself. offer her lickey treats more. Mine loves to be pet while she is sleeping. Dont give up! But I would also have play time with both too, Like above it might help to show that you are a good person and not going ot hurt them. IM sure she just needs some time to adjust.

It has been my experience that when I carry both around in the bonding pouch it works much better. However, others may have other advise. Just read it all and do what you feel is right for you and your suggies. bonding is a time when your are winning their trust and that just takes time.

I also agree that carrying them both around with you will work well. Once Jeepers realizes that the huge hand that she crabs at and lunges for is not going to do anything but nice things she'll relax. Its all just very new to her still. You're doing great with them and before you know it she'll be as quiet as can be.

If you want to know what a person is like, watch how he treats others.

You'll never know what the outcome is if you don't step up and try.

I did both one on one and also carrying them together. I guess it depends on their personalities and only you know that. Just do what you think is best and you will do fine.

Thanks for all the advise! I agree that she will settle down well, and it's just going to take a little time. I'm pleased with the progress I can already see, especially since I've only had her less than a week. It's almost like she really knows I'm okay, but just feels like she needs to put on a little show when I reach in, silly girl! Maybe tomorrow I'll take her out by herself for a while.
