Our 9 OOP week Lily and Pogo have been in our place for only a few days, however they spent all the time in their new pouch. I;m gettin concerned because i want them to eat. Is it ok to razzle their pouch a little bit to get them out for playtime? When i went to open the pouch they started crabbing, well actually the Pogo did, he's the leader. Another question, the first day we got them when we released them into their cage they jumped onto the sides and froze for hours....and i mean hours, however, when we turned the lights off, they immediately started playing with their toys...any take on why there were scared of the light this much?

Gliders are nocturnal and most don't like the lights. I have one that won't come out of her pouch if there is more then a small night light on. Try turning off the lights or if you have a dimmer switch, dim them way down. You can use a red or blue light so you can see them easier without the light bothering them. Gliders usually will eat at night as well. Daytime is for sleeping! Also, by razzling their pouch, you are scareing them, that is why they are crabbing. Their pouch is their safety zone. Try taking their pouch and gently turning it inside out so they have to come out. You have to take things slow with them and be gentle or it scares them and will make bonding hard if not impossible.

Have you tried tent time? Get a pouch that is easily removed from the cage. Then, set up a little pup tent (you can get one at Walmart for less than $20). Remove the pouch with the gliders inside. Then take them in the tent with you. Let them come out on their own time. Try bribing with treats if it helps. This way they are in a safe, confined area to play and explore in. Bring in toys, but make sure they play on/with you too! I LOVE tent time. It is such a stress reliever for me. I just bring in a wheel (I use a bucket wheel during tent time because it's nice and big and sturdy) and a feather teaser, some treats, etc. This method has worked great for me especially with Sprocket. That little fur-butt gets ticked off at me if she doesn't get her tent-time. *LoL* Good luck with your little ones!

thanx for the insight everyone...well, when i asked you guys whether its ok to razzle the pouch it doesnt mean that i did it...that would be crazy if i did. We let them come out at their own pace....we are learning as we go along..We will try tent time, its just that my appartment is kinda small so we'll see what we can do. For now i'm going to leave a little night light on for them to get them comfy in the room.
