Well, after owning our babies for only 3 days, Pogo (the boy) has manages to slip out of the cage at night when we were sleeping. The error in the cage is now fixed.

But let me tell you something, we had quiet a recon mission to get the boy inside. Of course we did not do anything jerky, we didnt even try to chase it (our appartment is not that big. He was just hanging around and on the cage. This is when he found that he liked my decorative 7 foot tree to hang out in as well (it is right next to the cage). We used a soft fleece to try and cover him and get him in the cage...well it wasn't as easy as we thought. He's a spunky lil bugger. . Tried to bribe him with some licky treats as well, didn't really work, however the good part that came out of this is that we found out that he was not crabbing or lunging at us at all. He sniffed us a few times, but continued to crawl and hide away from us. His sister was just hanging out in our homemade hammock (very sweet).
We have put out shirts on the top of the cage for the scent purpose. TOday we are also putting our small pieces of fleece in their pouch. Also today we will try to feed them mealies through the bars. bonding pouches are on the way.

Would you guys reccoment to let them out tonight so they can explore out studio a little bit.

If you are all new to one another (which it sounds as you though you are) I would suggest for out of cage time to get yourself a little dome tent from Walmart ($20) and go inside there. First of all, it is a GREAT bonding method, smaller space so they HAVE to interact with you, secondly you dont have to *chase* them down to get them back in a pouch to go back in the cage. Once you have done that every night for a while you will see how fast bonding has come along and pretty soon you will feel like you can than let them in a bigger room that has been glider proofed.

If you want to know what a person is like, watch how he treats others.

You'll never know what the outcome is if you don't step up and try.

I want to add for new glider owners. Please make sure your toilet lids are kept closed. Gliders do not swim and to often escaped gliders are found the next morning drowned in the toilet. Garbage disposals are another thing often over looked when glider proofing as well as pilot lights on gas stoves.

I am glad there was a happy ending for your houdini.

Judge not until you have walked in their shoes and lived their lives. What you see online is only part of the story.

Yeah, we are having a little problem with an escaping glider at the moment too... I want to make one suggestion though, don't always feed your gliders mealies (or any treat for that matter) through the bars. I creates a nasty little habit of always assuming they will get treats when you come up to the cage and biting at your fingers when they are next to the cage (they a looking for mealies). I thought that I had one more thing to say about this, but I guess not. I am just for warning you because I had this problem and it was hard (and sometimes painful) to break. I am NOT saying never feed them through the bars, I'm just saying limit yourself. I still feed them occasionally through the bars, but I also open the door to give them treats so the aren't expecting things when I'm cleaning the outside of the cage.

Good luck with your litte ones and I hope that you can learn from my mistake as well as the mistakes of others on the board. Learning through other's mistakes is a great way to aviod having them yourself.
