I'm wondering if anyone has any experience introducing a female to two sibling males that are about a year and half old? The female is about the same age. The males already live together but are coming to me from a home that can no longer take care of them. I have a lone female that I'm sure would love a friend or two. Any suggestions on introductions or if I should think about neutering one of the males?

thanks,

Mark.

I would def say neutering 1 or both the males would be a good idea... adding a female can make animals very territorial, even if they weren't to begin w/

I believe standard introductions take a long time... starting w/ cages that are next to each other... pouch switching, playtime introductions... and then if everything goes well, the final introductions... meaning they're in the cage together

I've never done it, but that's what I've read

I have a trio that is successful but I can tell you I did get a lot of info about the MIX! I think I got lucky I adopted a male, and in looking for friends for him, I found a set of twins.. a sister and brother, the brother was already neutered, and every piece of advice I received was to have at least one of the boys neutered, and if you do not want little ones you should get both of them neutered … but that dealt with introducing a male to a male … you are dealing with two male that have been together, and the introduction of a female may change their relationship to each other… I remember fighting with my brother when he perceived me as a threat … lol … so to speak when he was interested in a girl …

you will probably be told more than once to get at least one neutered.

I think I should re-read this am I rambling. . sorry if I am … lol

I'd definitely neuter one of the males and wait a few weeks before introducing them - it can take a little while for those hormones to stop raging. There's a very important heirarchy that exists in wild glider colonies, and you wouldn't want one of your boys to be hurt in a fight for dominance. Only one boy gets mating rights, and you can imagine the almighty war there'd be if only one HUMAN male was allowed "mating rights"...!
