When I went to feed Luna and Geo tonight about and hour ago I saw they were already out and waiting for me so I was all excited cause that means I can joey sit the twins that were oop 2-12-05. One boy and a girl and I just love them! Well, when mom and dad got their yummy food I got the pouch and there was only one glider in there. Well, I freaked I thought that they ate one.. this is their first joeys. So I starting looking all over their huge cage and I found her. She was cold and curled up.. I thought she was dead but when I tried to warm her up a little she starting moving. I got her brother and put them together while I was warming her up I thought she her knowing he was there she would feel better. She was doing good for awhile.. I got a heating pad and an old time water heater and I put her and her brother on it while cuping them in my hands.. she was doing better and I got her mom to see if she would help well she tried to lick her but the joey didn't want anything to do with her and she started going down hill. We tried all that I could think of and she passed away in my hands.. I tried to get her to come back but I had no luck. I named her angel because that is what she is now.. she was my first glider that passed on and I hope it will be my last for a very long time. I miss her and I know her brother does as well.
How do you think mom and dad will take it? I let them both say goodbye to her but will they do okay with the male joey.. I am worried they might not want the male if the female is gone. I could use some help. Thank you

I am so sorry this has happened. Do mom and dad seem to be ok with the little boy right now? If so, they will probably do fine.

Thank you so much. I don't think I will be going to sleep tonight just to make sure everything is okay with them tonight. I have the male joey with the mom and dad in the cage pouch and they are all three in there. I think they will be okay but I just wish I knew if they understand what happened. I will update soon.. I have my fingers crossed that they will be okay.

I am so sorry for your loss! We lost two joeys within days of getting the mom with them IP and that was so hard, even though we didn't get to become attached to them. We just had a joey who is also 7 days old and I cannot imagine how you must feel. I know we are already so attached to him in this short time, my heart goes out to you.

I'm so, so sorry for your loss. I feel your pain, it hurts. I think momma and daddy will do just fine raising their little son without the daughter. I think they instinctively know what happened. It happens in nature, and these little ones have stronger senses then us humans do. You will be in my prayers throughout the day. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/heartpump.gif" alt="" />

Thank you. They are doing just fine with him Thank god. Mom and Dad both stayed with the boy in the pouch the rest of the night. It was a quiet night for them. I think they do know and I'm glad they are doing well with their son. I talked to a friend who has been a glider mom longer then I, and she said the mom might not have enough milk and that's why the joey was out of the pouch. So I am going to boots up the protien a bit and keep a hawk eye on things. Thank you all again for your prayers and toughts.. its tough but if angels mom and dad can get through it so can I.

I am sorry for your loss but when you find one at the bottom of the cage you should always try and get them warm and then you should try and get some food in their tommies.

Yup, thats what I tried to do but it just wouldn't work. I just wish I had gotten to the cage sooner. But Im sure everyone feels they wish they could have done something different or something more
