Last Saturday, I was going to the vets to have him fill out the USDA paperwork, well we had some other errands, but nothing I couldn't take the babies. So, I had them in their pouch, got in the van, and set the pouch down in my purse. Not even 15 minutes later, I checked the pouch and the female promised to my brother was gone. My heart sank, hubby started that mad act, (you know where they are worried sick but refuse to show it! it's more manly to get mad!) So, we looked and looked, I looked, he looked, no Sydney. So, I put some warm bml out there, put her family in their pouch in a smaller cage out there, still no Sydney. I figured she was in there curled up asleep and would come out when she was ready. The day was cool enough, I wasn't too worried about temp. Went out about 2 hours later, still no Sydney. So, had a bday party for my niece to go to. After the party, I went out there again, looked and looked, finally decided to open the drawer under the passenger seat. She looks up at me like "Hi Grandma, where've you been? I been waitin for you to rescue me!"I was never so relieved in my life! She was ok, no dehydration nothing, took her first ice water ever, wasn't too sure of that, but she took it. She is fine now. Thankfully! But, it could have been so much worse. If she had gotten loose in the house, the dog could've eaten her, or the garage, who knows what, we even laughed (after we found her) about her being found in hubby's dry cleaning! Mental images of her running and gliding thru the grocery store, from one white haired old lady to the next, stopping in the fruits and veggies for a snack! Can't you just see the resulting chaos? <img border="0" alt="roflmao" title="" src="graemlins/roflmao.gif" />
So, my lesson learned: use a pouch that closes, and don't take your eyes off them if you aren't. Just because they have never done something doesn't mean they won't! I had no idea how I was going to tell her parents, much less my brother!

Thanks guys! I was so scared hubby kept telling me she got out in the house before I made it to the van and the dog ate her. I fell asleep watching tv and had nightmares about the dog eating her! I was just so relieved! NO more taking the gliders anywhere outside the house without the wonderful pouches from queenduck!

Shame, shame, shame, your going to have to use those pouches I gave you. I am soooo glad you found her, I can't imagine losing that sweet baby girl, so is just so cute. But I think most of us have had a close call (I know we have had a few at our house) and it just makes your heart stop. Talk to you later Chey.
